I have the same exact issue, what transistor did you use to replace the ones that were bad and where might i find one?

Really good video I may have to do a job on one of these in the near future. How many times did the car cut you while doing thus job? Ouch. Every time I get cut working on a car it just makes me work that much harder to get the job done faster and more efficiently. With all of the work needed for removing the intake, it is probably makes sense to just replace both sensors at the same while you are at it, to save any future head aches. Great video man!

Very informative! I seem to have a different problem though... my thermostat shuts off and reboots when trying to start the AC. Maybe the board needs a snubber? (or at least a better one?)

It looks like it's missing parts. All the one's I've seen have a 2nd idler that's larger and that one drives the motor.

I worked in a NASA calibration lab in the mid 70's with HP frequency synthesizers similar to yours. Thank you for your tenacity. These days, labor costs would justify trashing it instead of repairing it. The video itself is a wealth of experience to be shared over and over again.

I've tried about a dozen times. No matter how you adjust this on a bench like this it's off when you connect it to a tire. It's either tank pressure or working pressure. This is why these are trash

Hey Hey! Thanks for your video, very fun to watch. I recently picked up a vintage Magnavox entertainment center, but the Turntable was not included... The new turntable is connected to phono, but it fades out whenever it's turned on, and the power and amp go out. In other forums, they said it was due to the phono connection expecting the turntable and thinking there are no records to play and shuts off the system- they also suggest soldering a jumper between the "hot" and return wires of the turntable power harness. I'd love to know your thoughts on that and if you can do a demo of the soldering needed to make it work. I do not have the old Turntable and wondering if its the right solution because one end of the harness won't be connected to anything...

It's been awhile since I worked on it, but when phono is selected it expects the turntable to turn the amp on and off. You can make a jumper wire from automotive connectors and jump the bottom 2 wires on connector shown here: 1drv.ms/i/s!AgRy1tCE6lTdgv9ASoAqC5xi_o_pKA?e=WuufOj

I picked up that identical one at a flea market and it turned out to be garbage! They are designed not to be adjusted or repaired. I looked for parts online and they were hard to find and hard to get. It is also one of the hardest pancake air compressors to open up.

Great video! You edited out the unimportant or repetitive parts and left in your mistakes. That's so refreshing on KZbin, almost nobody does that. When they edit out the difficult parts or their mistakes it leaves the viewer feeling like an idiot because they struggled or made a mistake. Thanks!

Thanks for the video! I got my RX2 in 1986, and I've been spinning it since. I have a Soundsmith cartridge, which I highly recommend. I have been having issues with my cueing dropping a few bars into the first track of the side. I've identified the adjustment from the manual, but I cannot figure out where it's located on the actual chassis. Any help? I'd love the rehab it back to my "A" deck.

I purchased this amp and speaker cabinet combo in 1978. It pretty much still looks like the day I bought it as I only used it on gigs several times. Recently I started getting some distortion so I brought it to a repair shop in Philly. The tech told me that the pre amp was shot and that unfortunately that it was no longer manufactured. The distortion is not constant so I still use it as a practice amp. I've had it for so many years and I really hate the thought of parting with it. Is there any way that another another pre amp, with the same electrical characteristics could be utilized? The other thought I had was to part with the head and replace the 4 ohm speakers within the cabinet with 8 ohm speakers, the reason being that I cannot seem to find a guitar amp head that is 4 ohm. Any comments or insights would be greatly appreciated.

I would take it to another shop. The preamp is all mixed together with the effects so I don't think you can just replace it. The preamp runs at like 40 volts. I had issues with the zener diode in the voltage regulator on the main board for the preamp power supply. I would check the input voltage, replace all the caps, and then test again. If it is the transistors in the preamp they're easy to replace too. Also and this is me thinking way back, isn't the distortion switched on, on the distortion pot? When I first got the amp I had issues with that switch. Maybe a clean-up would fix it?

@@RobsFixitShop Thank you for your insight. The distortion is only activated when you hit the foot switch which came with the amp. I'll have to do some looking to find a reputable repair shop. Thanks again.

Thanks for the informative video, I bought one of these and found it to be so far off in accuracy that I just could not trust it. It has been in my tool box for almost 3 years un-used. Now I see that you can calibrate it I will give it a try. My only question is why are these not calibrated at the factory before being shipped out to customers, Mine is off almost 5 PSI.

Great, but the Astro-Sonic amps lost a lot of percussion response that the tube-types had. What tool is needed to get the Astro-Sonic unified chassis out of the cabinet? I heard something about PAL screws.

Hi! I'm curious, I have an Amaco Electic Potter's Wheel No 1-101, it's vintage... and the motor is a DC motor and described as the following in the paperwork Amaco sent me. They no longer make parts for this or motors so I wondered what you recommended I could replace or repair it with? From the spec sheet "This wheel is driven by a two-speed 1/3 H.P. motor connected to a gear reduction unit by a heavy duty flexible coupling. Wheel speeds are controlled by a three position switch - Low for 65 R.P.M., High for 95 R.P.M., and Off."

Why was it necessary to take the back side of the camera ? The connectors you cleaned were on the front side. So do you just need to just remove 1 screw to take off the front cover ?
