The third one sounds just like Prokofiev's Toccata.

I just discovered how great Hartmann is the other day, especially his piano music is spectacular, such as this or the sonata in d minor.

D'Albert himself has recorded the Gavotte & Musette. It's an excellent recording. Highly recommended!

The performance is excellent but am I the only one who notices that the piano sounds slightly off in the upper registers?

Yes, Bortkiewicz was influence by other composers but so what? Every composer was influenced by others. He was probably the last great Romantic before "modern" music rose. Hearing this I think of Brahms (perhaps due to the pianist).

Bach? Chopin? I need to learn more, about Classical Music. This would be good music, to have lunch, with a famous Hollywood director, with! Keep up the good work!

Great performance. Though some of the influences already mentioned are apparent, it does not take away from this sure-handed composition and the considerable understanding and handling of pianistic textures.

This could be an unknown set of Jazz standards, slightly re arranged with words by Its Gershwin, sung by Etta James.

Bezaubernd Wobei die optisch speziellen sehr langen Takte akustisch recht konventionell klingen. Das Reich der Sonatinen ist wahrlich ein ganz eigenes Universum....

I love how tremolos only appear in The Serpent's Kiss as it elicits the image of a rattlesnake rattling. Same with the clicking, it makes me think of how snakes stick their tongue out even if they dont make a clicking noise

Why the need to not play an actual Largo [or andante for that matter]? We certainly live in hectic times!
