I have talked to many people since Florida has had all these storms. The comments are screw Florida not a place to retire.

Hi Frank, I enjoy your videos but from what I heard, the workmanship is a little to be desired, missing roof ties and a few homes had gas leaks in the attic etc. quantity is the developers goal!!

I watch Milton "Live Stream" aka Storm chaser , from I had saw , winds were moving between 90 mph - 110 mph on his scale , he was showing us . That was a bad hurricane . Another youtuber said the same thing, the shingles rated 110 mph . I guess nothing is perfect .

Newly installed shingles will blow off more than shingles that are on for a year or more. The tar adhesive needs time and sun to really set up and work together......not at all odd.

Ah i see.. that makes sense now. Thanks for watching

Is there a warranty that would cover the cost to fix that within the first two years? Or would you have to make a claim on your homeowner’s insurance?

Too many airbnbs shoddy workmanship on the plastic homes. The fences?? A joke. This is the last place on earth I would want to spend my older years. Ya all got lucky with that storm.
@retiringtothevillagesflori1972 күн бұрын
Well, knowing how the infrastructure is down here and the above Florida quality of the homes really and actually make this a safer place to be. I don’t think it’s just luck alone.
@LivefreeordiКүн бұрын
I don’t agree with your assessment. Our home hear in The Villages and 99.99% of the homes here faired very well. The water mitigation is excellent and clean up started before the sun came up. KZbinrs tend to show the spots with damage because negative emotion gets more clicks.
@Mkmmitch3 күн бұрын
I heard that the home owners are partially responsible for fixing the fence if it was broken behind their house .👎👎👎👎 and I’m talking about the ones that run the whole neighborhood not those sectioned ones. But probably those also😢😢
@retiringtothevillagesflori1972 күн бұрын
You know I’m hearing that as well, which would really be unfortunate for many people

New roofs are susceptible to wind damage, it takes some time and heat for the shingles to fully seal.
@retiringtothevillagesflori1972 күн бұрын
Yeah, we were very fortunate indeed, however, the Villages infrastructure and the above Florida code. Standards of home building really helps make the Villages area a better spot in my opinion over many others.

How Long Does it Take for Asphalt Shingles to Seal? Typical Sealing Time Frame Under optimal conditions, asphalt shingles typically take around 4 to 8 weeks to seal completely. However, this time frame can vary based on several factors. Factors That Affect Sealing Time Weather Conditions Weather is one of the most significant factors influencing the sealing time of asphalt shingles. Warm temperatures and direct sunlight are ideal for activating the adhesive. Warm Weather: In warm climates, shingles can seal within a few days to a couple of weeks. Cold Weather: In colder temperatures, the sealing process can be significantly delayed, taking several months or even until the next warm season. Rain and Humidity: Excessive moisture can hinder the sealing process. Ideally, shingles should be installed in dry conditions to allow the adhesive to activate properly. Roof Pitch and Orientation The pitch (slope) and orientation of your roof can also affect how long it takes for asphalt shingles to seal: Steep roofs are more exposed to sunlight and heat, potentially speeding up the sealing process. Roofs facing south generally receive more sunlight, which can help the shingles seal faster compared to those facing north

Too much house, too much money. Most older couples can do very well in 800 to 1000 sq/ft. Anything larger is just more room for stuff you don't need. Small, quiet and functional is all a house has to be for most. Less is more.

Actually some of the houses were built in this Village with some having swimming pools that have not been sold yet. Contractor built them knowing that it may be a selling point for the house. Also it is cheaper to include the infrastructure for the pool in the original build.

The Villages (TV) WOULD have seen more damage if Milton had stayed on course and bulls-eyed it so the full force of Milton wasn't experienced. But even if it had been, I'm guessing TV would still survive it pretty well, especially as there apparently wasn't any flooding issue. That's one huge (!) reason if I were to move to FL (Plan B presently) Central Fl would be the location, not on or anywhere near the coasts. Have no interest in "living on the beach (did that in Galveston TX during Hurricane Ike) or near a beach. So for me, TV would mostly likely be the 55+ community I'd choose (or OTOW/Del Webb Stone Creek secondly). Nice to see the "Villagers" had very minimal damage. 🙂 -- BR

Thanks for the update this morning 🙏🏻 Us “snowbirds” are obviously concerned (I live in Newell and will be back next week for the winter). Obviously, we’re relying on neighbors and KZbinrs, like you, to assess the impact of Milton. Glad to see no flooding in the roads, but I’m sure the retention ponds are high. Knowing the Villages, everything with be back to normal in a day or two. Thanks, again 👍🏻
