@@barrykehoe996 That's a good option for some. The total cost to delete all ABC systems would have been about $2500. Plus the possible issue of inspection/registration/selling that we did not want to deal with. Also the increased smoke and smell were not something we wanted.

Interesting. I didn't think there were any differences in the cig lighters between years. As for getting the whole thing out... yeah you have to take out the center console. Or break the plastic lens. If yours doesn't have those two access slots, yeah, you'd be stuck removing the whole center console. Bummer as it's kind of a pain. Any problems with your battery going dead? (u have 1 battery or two?) after hardwiring? Some add the battery packs to help with the park monitoring after suv is turned off.
@crystalworks18 ай бұрын
We had the single battery version. If we left the camera plugged in for money than 2 or 3 days without driving the vehicle we would get the battery discharge warning msg on iDrive. But the battery monitoring (IBS) would never let the battery die. It would shut off the circuit that the camera was on to prevent a dead battery. So even if we forgot about the camera, we never came out to a vehicle that wouldn't start. Let me know if you have any other Q's.

Sorry, no suggestions near Philly. You'd have to call around to local diesel shops. That's what I did. Finally got a referral from one of them to the outfit I used. Is the dealer recommending DPF replacement? Or an indy? Is that the only code present?

@@wardman7655 Driving with a clogged DPF will cause problems with the SCR cat eventually I'd imagine. Maybe put undo pressure on the turbo if it is really clogged? I don't know really. Sorry. Good evening. My 2012 X5 35D with 113k miles has yet to get this problem but I'm expecting soon. Took to a local BMW shop for (CEL) which was for a computer module switch (Glowplugs) and not the dealer and they told me a INFO PARTICULATE FILTER code was also found and came on for the first time. They told me it might mean my DPF may need to be replaced soon. Is this accurate, and if so, how can I get it cleared after being cleaned? Especially since I live in Cali, big on emissions here :(
@crystalworks1 Жыл бұрын
Hi. That information code is just that, the DDE has a countdown (don't know if it's miles or regens) that it keeps track of and sets that info code. Nothing needs to be done about it until some sort of fault with the DPF is registered. Ours had 166k miles and was fine. Unless you are doing exclusively short trip/city driving I'd expect yours to be okay for some time. Once you do get a trouble code (CEL) for it then you can have it removed and cleaned. The process to clear that will be using ISTA/D and the test plans it prescribes. The diesels are great vehicles. But the emissions stuff can be a huge pain to keep in service with the DDE happy. Our 2015 diesel X5 has a code now for the emissions stuff. Going to take it to the dealer for diag since a lot of it is covered til 120,000 miles. Hope the info helps.

Thank you very much for this video. I couldn't help but mutter to myself quite a number of times something along the lines of "bloody hell" and "what a nightmare" along with "it's going to take me days!". Seriously, this is one heck of a full on installation! A couple of questions, can't you use the factory microphone? What extras amps do you need or did you install, if any? Can you tell us a little about the kicker sub in the back? Are all the speakers other than the sub factory? Finally how does it sound? I would have loved a bit more coverage of the unit such as menus and whether you retain all the factory usability such as the trip computer, etc. Thanks again 👍
@crystalworks1 Жыл бұрын
First, great SN. Yes, it is a job and a half to install the way I did, glad this video still helps ppl. Now the questions. The factory mic could possibly utilized if you could find some way to adapt the connector but I'm not sure. This X5 got only an extra mono amp for the Kicker 10" sub in the rear. The factory HiFi audio amplifier was retained for the 10 interior channels. All the interior speakers were HiFi trim level factory drivers. Adding the Avin greatly increased their sound quality due to the EQ and DSP options it has for tuning. The iBus unit does retain the trip computer and all other OBC functionality. Without it, you lose those functions. I would have loved to demo and review the unit but the video was already long and I had to leave town the next day.
