Wow, this just looks impossibly good for the humble old ST! Huge congratulations on completing it. Loving the deep purple nights sky and stars 🤩 Thought I had KZbin set to 1.5 x speed it was going so fast 😆Can't wait to play it on real STE hardware - considering picking up a CRT monitor for that authentic ST experience!

Pourrait-il adapté sur Atari Jaguar ? De nombreux jeu ont déjà été adapté sur la Jaguar moyennant des bidouilles dans le code.
@gridleaderretroКүн бұрын
This could potentially be ported to the Jaguar. However, everybody I've spoken to so far is adamant that a paid-for physical release should come first, whereas I want the game to be available as a free ROM image from day 1.
@tylerdurden7646Күн бұрын
@@gridleaderretro Given the work put in, it would only be fair for you to see some of the fruits of your labor. Concerning the Jaguar you could work with Cyrano Jones from Atari Ages to adapt the code for the Atari Fauve and market it in boxes. Jaguar fans like me will buy it, even though it's available for free on the Atari ST. In any case, the game looks general. Does it run on a basic ST or is an STE required? It's a good job!
@gridleaderretroКүн бұрын
@@tylerdurden7646 Thanks. I'd like to see the game on Jaguar but it would also be very important to me that it makes good use of the Jaguar hardware. I don't feel that a direct ST port would be enough in this case (even if the Jaguar-owning demographic might disagree). The source will be made available shortly after the STE version is released, so theoretically anybody could attempt a port to Jaguar without my involvement. The ST version is STE-only by the way - I don't believe the STFM could do this feature set at this framerate.

@@gridleaderretroI read that the blitter on the STE is difficult to set up for the CPU. The Jaguar blitter forces the CPU to shuffle 16bit words around. Something which in times of cheap registers had no priority on JRISC. Feels like Flare developed the Blitter for ARM with its forced barrel shift in every instruction. Or this CPU in MortalKombat. I think it is pure 16bit. So I may dislike ObjectProcessor quite a lot, but here it is the better option.

This is going to be amazing. Your masterpiece so far. My only request is that you provide as way to compensate you somehow, even if you drop them ROM for free. Didn't have to be money, but I feel we of the ST community owe you something for having built this.

@@gridleaderretro We talked briefly through Twitter about this project, but I was using my game studio account, Banana Bytes. Dunno if you going to remember. I never owned any Atari computers, I just had (still have) an Amiga and that constant complain of "Lazy ST ports" etc etc. Now I'd love to have this one on the Amiga :D It doesn't just looks like a technical feat, but also looks to be pretty fun to play. Great job :)

At first... I thought someone had found the lost ST port of WEC Le Mans. Anyway, this looks great. The way the colour scheme changes as you race gives a lot of ambience to the game. The chunky car sprites look arcade quality. And the really smooth, fast racing action is very impressive.👍 Looks like it'll be better than most of the modern retro style racers you get on Steam etc...

Awesome. Makes you wonder the fun with a graphics engine like this what Outrun, Lotus and other racing games could have been like.
@gridleaderretroАй бұрын
Yes, although this is a very simplified engine (no hills and no varying road width) compared to Out Run. Basically, everything is super-specialised to allow the primary objective, which is the 50fps framerate.
@w.w.7148Ай бұрын
Why isn't it the track moving up and down like in other games?
@gridleaderretroАй бұрын
Because the primary objective of this game is to run at 50 frames per second, and there's barely enough power there to run it with a flat road.
