This is a cool language. Why doesn'r India revive Sanskrit fully as a modern spoken language and teach it to all Indians as their national language, as Jews did with ancient Hebrew to make it a fully modern national language in Israel, when no one was speaking Hebrew previously for thousands of years?

3:15/4:55 astu "I think Astu is some conjugated present tense of the Sanskrit verb to be, specifically in this sentence context, another form of "Is"being "Ati". But Astu is also in Classical Latin, or closely resembles the Latin word astu, which is indeclinable, for a city, especially Athens, Greece. It is also another form of the noun Astus, other declined forms being astui, astum and ASTU, meaning cleverness, cunning, astu is specifically in the ablative case as "By Means Of Cleverness or Cunning. Even though Latin and Sanskrit are closely related, in this case the similarity is only curiosly coincidental.

Namo namah Mr. Seetharaman. I have my doubts in this topic. You said Guru also means teacher. I was listening to a research thesis explanation of Mr. Abhijit chavda, he said first is acharya in gurukul then they have adhyapak and adhyapikas then comes Guru. It is the highest rank only a person with such a high attunement can become a Guru. Today every teacher is addressed as Guru. While it is not so in ancient. So kindly clarify. Thank You.

This is an excellent Introductory Lesson for SPOKEN Sanskrit! Every Language on earth, DEAD or ALIVE, becomes "SOCIALLY" ALIVE when this important Language Faculty is developed sufficiently in the Student. Classical Latin, at the turn of the 20th century to the later decades has had the same problem as Sanskrit now has: It's Cultural DEADNESS was felt when not Socially SPOKEN. Classical Greek and Hebrew were more fortunate, in not having that great a rift of [L.C.] Linguistic Change between the classical form and the social-cultural contemporary. I have decided to seriously Master Sanskrit, even though I have loved Latin, and Greek, and modern offshoots: French, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and even German. In fact I have wanted to continuously learn all my past languages more fully, especial Latin and Greek. But SANSKRIT has come emphatically to the fore front on my Life Road of Learning, like this IMPOSING Traffic Sign: "Master Me FIRST, before You go on to your Prior Loves!". I am in Cincinnati, Ohio, within walking distance to the U.C. Campus, near PROBASCO AUDITORIUM! But I am not a Student there. I was once way back in 1978 to 1980, but THINGS did not go well for ME. It is a long long long Story.

WHAT A BEAUTIFUL LANGUAGE!!! Thank you for reviving it! I can feel the ancestral beauty of its sounds! As a Russian speaker (Ukrainian), I can totally hear how this Sanskrit language influenced the cadence and words in Russian. I kept seeing etymologies stem from Sanskrit so I decided to hear it in action. Fascinating!
