Get a plastic storage bin with a lid. Cut a small cat door in the side. Place a litter mat on the bottom of the bin, and put the litter tray on top of the mat, then place the storage bin on top of another litter mat.

The best advice I can give (if you are still doing this with them), is reward them every time they come out and relax. Keep tons of toys and try to guve them catnip tea or herbal dry catnip.

Upper and Lower Ball Joints wouldn't surprise me on a vehicle that old because rubber breaks down over time ? If you do have it done make sure it includes a front wheel alignment.
