Solo Female Van Life With Cats

I took my cats camping with me for the first time! This is the first of many videos I will have traveling in the van with them. For this trip, we went to Garner State Park in Texas.

Thanks for this honest video! I am planning to travel with my cats and I'm a little scared. I want to do it right for them with as little stress as possible. This video helped a lot!

Get a plastic storage bin with a lid. Cut a small cat door in the side. Place a litter mat on the bottom of the bin, and put the litter tray on top of the mat, then place the storage bin on top of another litter mat.

Put the litter box on the floor of the front passenger’s seat with a mat. Bring a hand vacuum. For water bowls use Velcro.

I'm humming & huhhing over whether I should bring my 3 year old gingerlump with me when I head to Portugal for 3 months in my motorhome or whether he would be better off staying at my brothers who has a nice big house for him to explore plus garden. In the moho he will be very restricted & obviously I need to do the best thing for him...

Cool cat's! The more you take them, the more they will get used to it. Many have cat's, litter is normally in the garage area, and bowls you can velcro to wherever work's for them in your kitchen! They will love nature, tree's, grass etc. No noise and the natural environment too. I used to watch a channel, The Cat Lady in Canada, she can show you some idea's! I am in Texas too! I don't think you are doing this full time, IDK, looking for a van or something myself as I want to live the rest of my life! Happy trail's and tail's from Texas 💜✌

Try litter mat it helps and unscented drawstring litter bags, they'll put a few holes in it but overall very helpful at home or whilst traveling then of course clumpable litter... Plz dont put their water /food/snacks near box though it's unsanitary.. But you babies are gorgeous!!! And it's lovely to see a lovely young lady traveling with cats, very inspiring..

I'm so glad mine isn't the only cat who immediately wants to run under my van, lol. My guy loves driving. To the point where he typically falls asleep on the passenger seat beside me. Exploring outside, however, is a whole other matter for him 😀. Thanks for sharing! 🚙🇨🇦

The wood pellets are much better. Adust buster cleans it up easy with no markings

When I got my 32' class "A"motorhome, my cats were scared when we 1st started up the motor they just stayed hidden under the bed in the bedroom. I made a screen door to keep them in the back but still be able to see me and I them when I was driving. They soon got used to it though. I still always confined them b4 hitting the road. The last thing you want is to put on the brake on the freeway and realize that the cat that was under the seat, is now under the break! That happened 2me years later when I had more cats and didn't realize one had sneaked out of the bedroom. Fortunately it wasn't traffic time! They sell spill-proof food and water bowls for travel. They also make litter boxes with a removable rim to keep the litter inside. It scared me to see you standing with the door wide open when your black cat was inside and could have shot out. Alway open the door just enough to BACK out....just in case.

Cat litter STILL creates too much mess & Dust in the Air... Pine Pellets or Pine Shavings from a Tractor Supply Company are far better (& Cheaper), Natural, Don't Smell at all, & Cleanup is Easy!! Give it a try...

I've got a simese girl, I tell you how get a cat as you co pilot. You put material belt around your passenger seat neck high. This is so you can find the right size rattan flat bottom and side about 1 -1/2 foot wide x 2 foot long across the seat. You can attach the handle to the belt both side or make a attachment. Then get a cat cushion. So the cat sit up resting on the cushion looking over the top of the seat and can see front or the rise window. I make it a roll call so I never leave a place is the cat real out the door. So she alway has to be their sitting . And after yeas she get up sleeping if she can and go up there when ever I start up most of the time. And she look around. It really cool. I see girl point as their walking. LOL

You got too much cat liter in it only need 1-2" or they willl fly it over the box edge. The cat food in time you get tiny roaches. They fly in at night. You will in time need to have it on 1 wire legs then you need the legs in a plastic 1 inch high container so the legs don't slide off. Then in the thin container you need to oil it every few days. This would keep the roaches from eating it. If you you get thousand of them in time. They feed at night. Water or just it oily they can't walk over it to get to the food. They love cat food.

The best advice I can give (if you are still doing this with them), is reward them every time they come out and relax. Keep tons of toys and try to guve them catnip tea or herbal dry catnip.

The struggle is real I've been traveling with my cats for 4 years and they're still like what the fuc. I do plan to have that lifestyle as well. And I just say get over. Obviously I put the work and effort into getting them used to it I've even moved across country with them. I love when you said how you guys doing it's only been 5 minutes. But to them it's Internity and it's hilarious.
