"how do we use money as a tool to build the life that we want?" is such a helpful reframe.

Meh. I don't at all agree with his personal beliefs, but Dave's money strategy has helped me pay off tens of thousands of dollars in debt. I am 2 months away from being completely debt-free. I have learned a lot from callers' experiences on his show. Please make another video about this evaluating his actual plan - and maybe read the books and listen to a full 3-hour show, before making judgments?

Here's my take on Dave Ramsey after listening to some of his shows. He basically informs people how to get out of debt, in the most simple of terms from credit cards to your fancy autos. A big problem with peoples finances is those people buy things they don't need, Kardashian bracelets ? I consider myself a bad consumer, because I don't purchase frivolous items, why ? Because I'm not taken in by all the commercials/ads that come across the tv. Big consumerism is telling you to buy the $75,000 truck, or the Kardashian bracelet, or the $400-$600 handbag/purse. This woman apparently has made it big in the financial sector, just like all the other self help gurus, now they are all cashing in on whomever is listening to them. It's not that hard to make/invest and accumulate a million dollars over one's lifetime if they work hard, save, invest, and don't purchase needless items ( because it's what your neighbors bought ).

You do realize women making less than men isn’t comparing apples to apples right? It takes all wages for all women, averages it out, then compares it to the average of men’s salaries. It’s obvious when you compare a bunch of social workers, teachers, and writers (the careers that women are PICKING) to the salaries of software engineers, electricians, or other stem fields (that men are picking), then obvious the group of stem field workers are going to make more. I have no idea why every feminist refuses to acknowledge that point. Well I do know why, because it completely dismantles their entire victimhood argument. Google even did a study where they compared apples to apples, same education, same position, same experience for all their female software engineers vs male software engineers and Google even found that the women made slightly more. Women make less because of the career paths they choose. Period point blank not because it’s the “patriarchy.” Also men on average work more hours. Men also take the majority of careers that have danger pay. And they’re more likely to argue for a higher salary. Why don’t you all ever point that out? Again, because it destroys your victimhood card. It’s so disingenuous. And this is why more men aren’t “feminists” because feminists don’t even argue logical points. You all read some buzzfeed article back in 2013 about the wage gap and just ran with it.

Oldest card should at least have a reoccurring charge where you have it autopaid at the end of the month. That way it won't get cancelled by the credit card company for not being utilized. This becomes a risk for them and even potentially you, if no charges have been made but the line of credit is still open. They can assume you lost the card...etc :)

She is just trying to sell her program, which is fine if it works. Ramsey does have a lot of life and financial experience. I've listened to a lot of his shows, and the basics are spot on. And it appears to be that this woman and Ramsey may have had a verbal scuffle, which is why she is lambasting him.

So I co-lead an Employee Resource Group at work for Early Career Professionals and we were all talking about this the other day. We keep feeling like no matter how hard we work, how much we monetize our hobbies, or how many side hustles we have, we just continue to struggle to pay bills. I felt better knowing its not just me, but at the same time I hate seeing my friends struggle too. I read Ramit's book and it helped me support my husband and I and our two dogs through his 9 months of unemployment and now that he has a job, his hours (and pay) are less than we hoped. I am SO tired of living paycheck to paycheck. We want to move forward with our lives but this leasing situation is getting out of hand. I haggled over the phone the other day (after not having water in our kitchens for the last week) and got $100 off for us and our neighbors, but it feels like it was barely a dent. When and how do you make the decision to jump ship if you don't have a nest egg left to fall back on???

I believe you underemphasize that the majority of people should not have credit cards because the majority of people are financially irresponsible. This should be at the beginning, not a footnote (but I know you need to make your referral $$$). In other words, if you have EVER been charged interest on your credit card, you should not have a credit card. Most people delude themselves into they're playing the system because of all these "perks." But as they build debt at mind-boggling interest rates, they're the ones getting played.

So, I was really looking forward to this video. I love what you do and agree with it, and also despise Ramsey. However, I didn't learn anything from this video about why his book was actually bad. When you analyze it, could you address what his financial teaching flaws actually are. I know you are capable of phenomenal critiques. Please don't sell yourself short.

Hi Tori, This is an incredibly informative video-thank you for sharing such valuable insights! I have a question specifically for those who are outside of the US, as I live in the UK. Do any fellow viewers have advice or information tailored for UK-based individuals regarding the topic discussed? I'm particularly interested in understanding the nuances and differences in regulations, resources, and best practices that might apply here in the UK. Any specific recommendations on local organisations, legal considerations, or community support would be greatly appreciated. Additionally, if anyone has personal experiences or tips on navigating this field within the UK context, I'd love to hear about them. Thanks in advance for your help!

I’m very much on the credit card train. So much so that I haven’t set up the password on my debit card. It stays in a drawer. But, I am very curious how you would respond to some of the crap that Dave Ramsey says to try to counter your arguments, especially that cash back and other rewards come at the cost of people who are in credit card debt.

I was good up to the "patriarchal" dig Just an FYI, the patriarchy is the only reason you even have a credit card that you are able to leverage to great use or can be on KZbin in a nice air conditioned, comfortable room and freely taking disrespectful digs at men. Do you know how many American men have sacrificed their lives throughout history just so we can reach moments like this. Talk about ungrateful

When you live in this world as a woman, you don’t need an answer to this question - you know the answer in your bones. And when you are a confident man, you are able to be ok with women who name their lived experience.

@@IndexFundsAreBoring - I disagree. It doesn't have to be nor should it turn into a blame game. As a man I'm not to blame for holding someone of the opposite sex down and I shouldn't have to take the blame for it also. If the purpose of this channel is to educate than do just that, without pointing fingers. Success is true revenge.
