Each square are from the same type of material same texture of material because if I have jeans and I have a T-shirt, I do that if it’s a different type of material

Thanks for the great video. I have just printed out the pattern, but it the little 2cm squares are only 1.8cm. I've tried different ways of printing, but it still comes out smaller than it should be. Did anyone else have this problem too? I would love to get the sizes right and not have to redo it later on. Any advice would be much appreciated

12:42 what pattern is the blue floral dress you’re wearing here? I think the size 16 would be better fit. This one seems a little big in the shoulders on you. A neck would look better as well.

Hello, I forgot to ask: Does the PUL need to be pre-washed? Have you noticed the PUL shrink under a wash or dry? I read they do not shrink (and the fabric store told me not to pre-wash them), but I read a couple of comments on other videos that said their PUL has shrunk under warm wash and a partial low heat dryer/air dry. Thus leaving the exterior cotton fabric uneven (because they pre-washed the cotton fabric). Some people have suggested to wash the wet bags in hot water, but I didn't think that would be wise due to the fabric content. I thought I'd ask before making the wet bags as I am following your well-done video! I never used one when my son was young (he's an adult). Thank you!

You can't warm wash or dry pul. Just cold machine wash and then line dry. The laminate will lose its waterproof property if it gets heated too much. And no need to prewash

@@MyMumMakes - that's what I thought and thank you for clearing this up for me because I hadn't heard of PUL until I saw your video. I just found your video on a search for sewing baby items and thought this was a great idea. I really appreciate the extra information. :)

Great video with really good tips and explanations. I recently discovered that Gűtterman make a top quality stretch thread called Maraflex, that you use in both the top and bobbin of a regular sewing machine. This means that you can use it to sew stretch fabrics with a regular sewing machine using a straight stitch. I’ve tried it and it’s a game changer.

Hello! I’m a new subscriber and I am hooked. Great video. I’ve looked up Noosa Fabric Co after watching this video. They do have such a huge range of PUL fabrics. Whilst I was on their website I noticed that they also manufacture A fabric that they call Top Coat Polyester (TCP). My question is have you used TPC for any projects? I’d love to see it in some applications. (They suggest baby bibs, aprons, rain coats). ❤

This is a wonderful resource for families looking to DIY a thumb guard! I truly appreciated the insight on the previous protypes and why they didnt work!! It addressed various models I had thought up in my own head. The details on the correct sewing needle and stitch to use were also incredibly helpful. I was concerned that information may be skipped. Well done!

Absolutely agree about not making anything that should be regulated for the baby's safety! No matter how careful or crafty I am, I'd much rather have the reassurance of something tested and approved for market especially for sleep like the swaddles, sleeping bags, and cot covers 😮💨 Also for reusable diapers, but that's just because it seems so technical to get all of the supplies for the different layers 😅

Thank you so much for all of this information. My son and partner are expecting in January. It's such a long time since I had babies (36-38 years!!) and there are now so many different products on the market and safety measures that I have really enjoyed watching what's good to make and what's not. Saved me a lot of time and effort. Thanks again x

If you haven’t made, or considered, here is a simple but useful idea. I made “bibs” for my school age children, a hundred years ago.😸 I used them any time they were already dressed for going out but still needed to eat. We made them fun, used a hand towel and fun fabric, and a bit of Velcro. The kids at first didn’t like the idea, but quickly realized it removed the stress of dropping food on their outfit and having to change clothes when time was tight. These “bibs” are useful to anyone who drops food or spills their beverage due to any mobility impairment.

With my first baby I was gifted a sling. I found it a good idea, but it was too big, my babies were all six pounders. So with baby three I sat down and designed and built one on a smaller scale. It was so useful! They are the best hands free or nearly free device on the market. I made mine with a woven scrap and found really inexpensive, strong plastic rings, so almost free. My “baby” turns thirty in two weeks, there are so many things now we didn’t have then. I really like those grocery store basket cover things, not having to worry about trying to clean those would be nice. And car seats are so much easier to manage, I like the idea of the ones that snap into a stroller frame, but have not used one to see if they work well in practice.
