What a wonderful video! I have a daunting amount of clothing needing to be altered, adjusted or mended etc & I want to get into upcycling but struggle to find any practical plus size advice. Your video is easy to follow & with the alterations it’s so flattering, it looks like a new top! 😍 Thank you so much- you’ve inspired me to start tackling my pile 😊

I watched this video a few weeks ago & it is by far the best…….Thank you. My granddaughter is turning 1 on 10th Nov & I wanted to make her something special. I have never made a keepsake blanket before…..only bears. So I started it yesterday, mine isn’t as big, it’s only 5 squares wide by 6 squares down but it’ll be perfect for her. I’ve now just got to do the back bit & sew the border. I came back to your video to double check on how to do it. I will now be able to complete it later. Thank you so much for such a fab tutorial 😊

I've lost 50 lbs so far this year & given away a boat load of clothes already. I still have a lot left though, & I think I'm gonna start taking in my clothes, it seems like such a waist otherwise! Your tips here will really help me out! Thank you so much for making this video & you do great work with the sewing BYW! ☺💖

What happens if there is poop in the cloth diaper? Just goes straight to the wash or wipe diaper then wash?
@MyMumMakesАй бұрын
If it's just a small baby that is fed milk then you can just chuck the nappy straight into the wash bag with the liquid your poo on it. Then wash them in a separate load just of cloth nappies. You can look up settings and washing powder suitable for cloth nappies. If it's a bigger baby/toddler that eats solids you usually tip the solid poo into the toilet to flush it and then rinse the nappy if it's got a lot on there.

This might be a little late but first, congratulations on your weight loss and second the video is amazing, I too have lost quite a bit of weight and my closet is full of nice clothes I just have a hard time of selling or giving away. I’m not a garment sewer but I’m going to give it a good go and see what happens!

Any suggestions on why when I sew my plastic ends up just falling off, the needle is basically just cutting it and it doesn’t get sewn along with the fabric. 😅 new sewer here. lol
@MyMumMakes2 ай бұрын
Hi there! Could you try lengthening your stitches or sewing a bit further away from the edge and see if that makes it a bit stronger on the plastic? You can always send me a video of what you mean on Instagram private messages if you need more help

Thanks for the great video. I have just printed out the pattern, but it the little 2cm squares are only 1.8cm. I've tried different ways of printing, but it still comes out smaller than it should be. Did anyone else have this problem too? I would love to get the sizes right and not have to redo it later on. Any advice would be much appreciated

12:42 what pattern is the blue floral dress you’re wearing here? I think the size 16 would be better fit. This one seems a little big in the shoulders on you. A neck would look better as well.

Hello, I forgot to ask: Does the PUL need to be pre-washed? Have you noticed the PUL shrink under a wash or dry? I read they do not shrink (and the fabric store told me not to pre-wash them), but I read a couple of comments on other videos that said their PUL has shrunk under warm wash and a partial low heat dryer/air dry. Thus leaving the exterior cotton fabric uneven (because they pre-washed the cotton fabric). Some people have suggested to wash the wet bags in hot water, but I didn't think that would be wise due to the fabric content. I thought I'd ask before making the wet bags as I am following your well-done video! I never used one when my son was young (he's an adult). Thank you!
@MyMumMakes3 ай бұрын
You can't warm wash or dry pul. Just cold machine wash and then line dry. The laminate will lose its waterproof property if it gets heated too much. And no need to prewash
@bccabernet3 ай бұрын
@@MyMumMakes - that's what I thought and thank you for clearing this up for me because I hadn't heard of PUL until I saw your video. I just found your video on a search for sewing baby items and thought this was a great idea. I really appreciate the extra information. :)

Great video with really good tips and explanations. I recently discovered that Gűtterman make a top quality stretch thread called Maraflex, that you use in both the top and bobbin of a regular sewing machine. This means that you can use it to sew stretch fabrics with a regular sewing machine using a straight stitch. I’ve tried it and it’s a game changer.

Hello! I’m a new subscriber and I am hooked. Great video. I’ve looked up Noosa Fabric Co after watching this video. They do have such a huge range of PUL fabrics. Whilst I was on their website I noticed that they also manufacture A fabric that they call Top Coat Polyester (TCP). My question is have you used TPC for any projects? I’d love to see it in some applications. (They suggest baby bibs, aprons, rain coats). ❤

This is a wonderful resource for families looking to DIY a thumb guard! I truly appreciated the insight on the previous protypes and why they didnt work!! It addressed various models I had thought up in my own head. The details on the correct sewing needle and stitch to use were also incredibly helpful. I was concerned that information may be skipped. Well done!
