I got the C II because it was half price this summer sale. Wow. Going from the A to the C II is like switching from a Model T to a Tesla. The Maverick in the A you just press one button when it's over the target and shoot. The C? Not so much...

Another channel that does it properly, but this time with good timing. The "1 minute DCS" is great channel to go through process in quick manner, like when you are waiting something to happen, you can spend that one minute to refresh your whole process. But it isn't great if you need to really check the whole process as-not-checklist. So this kind video for 4-5 minutes gives way to learn whole process without disturbing or adding irrelevant information.

@@_MarkV_ I'm not sure if it's a DCS thing or if it's my stick or my drivers, but whenever I first load up DCS the stick is insanely sensitive until I do a full sweep of it's range of motion. I think it's some sort of a self-calibration thing going on. In any case, I'm trying to reinforce the habit in myself of sweeping the controls before I fly since things can get hairy on takeoff if I don't!

I have a question… how do you know the coordinates to the target?
@GotSpaceGame19 күн бұрын
I have a waypoint set over the target on the mission editor. It depends on the mission though - the mission maker might put coordinates in the briefing notes or have them radioed in to you mid-mission.

You can also choose a location and have Jester enter it and you just fly to the target.

For the bombing table you don't input run in speed, dive angle, target altitude, or release altitude? Because I've been doing it that way and I'm just wondering.
@technolegy219 күн бұрын
My understanding is that’s for a manual release. It’s in good practice to do so, In case of failure for radar lock, etc.
@GotSpaceGame19 күн бұрын
Yeah it's not really necessary in DT mode. The drag of the various slick bombs is also so close that even that barely matters if you're dropping a couple at a time as well. It's A bit more important with clusters though as the bomblets are more draggy.

As explained in paragraph 2 of the video description: "It's also worth noting that the Chinook is in the very first stages of early access."
@GotSpaceGameАй бұрын
@@Maxcism yeah ... The core sim engine is pretty old so stuff like that gets added as-and-when. Rotor wash only started to blow the grass around this year, and it was a couple of updates from then until jetwash did the same thing. For me, cosmetic stuff like that is nice to have but I'm more interested in seeing realistic flight, system and AI modelling.... Plus things like the dynamic campaign and full world map which are pretty exciting.

You don't need to mess with hook selection or arming and disarming it at ALL to attach the cargo. It's all handled by the automatic hook bound by the cargo selection in the All Cargos menu. But apparently it's needed to select which hook the Cyclic Release button interacts with.
@GotSpaceGameАй бұрын
True. It's best practice to be able to release quickly if things start to get borked though. Also the switches are important, especially if you're having trouble dropping cargo so I wanted to show where they are and give an idea of their use.

Bob is the Chinook's equivalent of an AI autopilot (confusing name as a lot of helicopters also have a bob-up button for holding position) It's marked as work in progress for now and it's pretty limited, but it can hold a decent hover, fly forwards and backwards and make yaw turns at low speeds, and kinda hold a cruise at higher speeds. It's a simple engage/disengage button (I put it in the kerbind list at the end of this vid) and then you control speed and yaw with the cyclic controls
@GotSpaceGameАй бұрын
It's mentioned in the manual but the info is VERY sparse.

thanks a lot, recently got made redundant and got the 2 week trial for f-16c. tws is much less finnicky than swapping between targets in zoom mode between fox-3's in rws. I'm assuming the drawback is the less concentrated radar power on each target compared to rws? since rws is a direct beam whilst tws still continues to scan a wide area while you have them tagged up? man i'm enjoying this so much haha
@GotSpaceGameАй бұрын
@@DonCheedle-y9z yeah- you'll usually get a bit more range on RWS and you can also scan a wider azimuth more quickly. Personally I think the benefits of TWS normally outweigh the drawbacks, but it's always a situational thing. Best of luck after the redundancy and I hope everything works out.
