Just want to add that if you're giving back to Apple for a trade in then you don't have to reinstall anything. Once you remove your accounts like icloud and back up your data (whichever order depending on what you're doing), you can then "erase all content and settings". Then you're done.

Double check to make sure your HDMI cord is plugged into the right port (ARC is usually HDMI 3). Go into your settings on Apple TV > remote and devices > scroll to the bottom and make sure “control tv and receivers” is selected “on” and “volume control” is set to “auto via HDMI”. That should work but if not, check the settings on your tv.

@@tatianabritton6258 actually I am using optical cable and everything is working fine when I power on the Apple TV remote works to power on the TV but when I power off my apple tv only apple tv power off and TV doesn't shut down so I have problem only in shutting off the TV

when i tap remove for the bridge i get a message, tap remove anyway, but nothing happens and the bridge is not removed. Also when i try to remove my account from the app, it says 'something went wrong while syncing your acocunt'. any ideas?

My problem is the audio out on the Apple TV is fixed and the signal strength is way too strong making my receiver peak and distort. It’s really annoying Apple doesn’t let you turn the volume output down

Does the phone need to be in the same room as the tracking mat? If we are using this for a child, we don't want to keep a phone in their room.

It wont let me do this as you say... When I get to disk utility and I go to the top of the screen to select VIEW ... there is NO view button. It's the only button not there! I cannot proceed to erase anything because the erase button is greyed out. Any ideas?

I'm a Control4 user and the best thing Apple can do at this point is to give 3rd parties full access to their Apple Music API. They also need to give the ability to play music natively on 3rd party devices.

Homekit, and all its wireless standards like Matter, Zigbee, etc.. have always been unreliable to me in multiple houses, cities for many years. I decided to dumb down my house a couple years ago and it's the best decision i've ever made. Be aware nerds, tech is cool, but remember that a light should just work, and a doorlock also. You don't want to wake up early when you have to go to work, and your bedside light wont turn on, then you walk to your bathroom in attempt to take a shower, and surprize!. no light either! So now you have to use your phone's flashlight to see in the bathroom and to take a shower. It's horrible. After experiencing this utter horror, i realized how important and underrated the function and reliability is of something simple as a frickin' light switch that always works. I'm happy with my dumb lights. The smartest thing i have is cheap 433mhz remote controlled sockets that work reliably (because they're not connected to the bloody internet, you know, routers, hubs, cloud services, local servers, it's so tiring.) and i'm very happy with it. And with wired systems like KNX, Loxone, Control4 and there might be more idk, it's beautiful but too expensive for what they are so until a time where they become more affordable and also more intuitive to program yourself, until then, it's just for the people with money I guess. (and of course, wireless homekit stuff is also expensive, but not even close to the pricey prices of wired systems.)

My QR code keeps changing when I attempt the provided prompts. Then Home app states Unable to Add Accessory, code incorrect. I have confirmed my tv is updated to most recent software.

I was driven demented for nearly 2 days in trying to set it up to a plugin wireless extender/repeater so I didn’t have to risk another item getting damaged in hubby’s man cave and could have it upstairs. To cut a long story short it seems (at least for me) you need to register a hue account. It could be coincidence of course but that’s when it connected.

buy an ir blaster , program and voila , no need for control 4..... no need for subscription, with homekit you can use "Nature Remo Nano IR Controller w/ Matter" . or my favorite method is broadlink blaster and home assistant , (hopefully you dont delete this comment too) 🤣😂🤣

How do you get the IR blaster working with HomeKit? Lots of hubs include an IR blaster but no integration with HomeKit that we have found.

@@radialtech if you plan using only home kit as stand alone -> kzbin.info/www/bejne/qHmsZKmdrqaIftE My preferred way is 30$ raspberryPi running Home assistant and home kit bridge , then a broadlink 20$ ir blaster. Broadlink Ir blaster has extensive library itself , but can also be programmed learning from remotes. HA Home kit bridge creates qr codes that can be enrolled in home kit as devices , switch and so on. Once you try home assistant you fall in love with it , and if you are a Psycho like I am , run everything in a Dell Server , using proxmox and many VM for all your services. i worked for an AV company installing control4 for almost 10 year , as much as i appreciate the work behind keeping updated all libraries, a value more open source and free . being locked on having to mantain a programmer licence , a device licence , only use their controller , is a fantastic business model for revenue

That is the best way to get POE cameras into HomeKit. That is what we use as well. We are planning to do a video on how this works.

Need to specify this only works this way using an Apple TV 4k, as the Apple TV HD (4th gen) has different audio settings, doesn't show a setting option for lossless.

The Halo remotes really took the control4 AV experience to another level. We actually like using C4 and HomeKit together using Homebridge and the C4 driver. You get the best of both worlds. We though it would be good to highlight some of things HomeKit could borrow from the integrated system out there even though it might be a sensitive topic lol

Most of this stuff is focused on TV/AV stuff which I mostly don't care about from an automation perspective. Also why use an alternative 'instead' of HomeKit? You can integrate HomeKit with HomeAssistant, that's what I'm doing. Also your TV is hilariously high lol

Hey yes definitely hear you on the AV stuff. For some people it won’t matter at all, but for those who do care about that, we wanted to highlight what the current limitations are with a homekit-only setup. Also agree that you don’t need to choose one over the other. The best setup is complimenting HomeKit with something like home assistant or Control 4. Problem is, Home Assistant requires some technical know-how and Control 4 is expensive, so not everyone can go that route. The good news is there is so much you can do just with HomeKit, but that’s for another video! It may not sound like it from the video but we are actually big fans of HomeKit and use it every day. This video is more for people looking to set up a new system to know where they might come to a roadblock here and there with HomeKit, and sort of a wish list of things we hope Apple could eventually incorporate to make it more of a complete experience in and of itself. How are you using home assistant with HomeKit - do you mainly use HomeKit for geo-fencing and location or are there other elements of HomeKit that you’re incorporating with home assistant?

Mine keeps saying “No lights found.” Been trying for an hour. Tried resetting modem and bridge. I’m adding this new upgraded bridge and transferred settings from old bridge successfully. I’m ready to send it back if I can’t get it to work. My old one was working fine.

There are 2 options here: Either you have a fake China-copy. Or you need a new pair of glasses. ;) ALL Chromecast-models, including the newest one with a remote, have a reset-button.
