That is the best way to get POE cameras into HomeKit. That is what we use as well. We are planning to do a video on how this works.

I'm a Control4 user and the best thing Apple can do at this point is to give 3rd parties full access to their Apple Music API. They also need to give the ability to play music natively on 3rd party devices.

Most of this stuff is focused on TV/AV stuff which I mostly don't care about from an automation perspective. Also why use an alternative 'instead' of HomeKit? You can integrate HomeKit with HomeAssistant, that's what I'm doing. Also your TV is hilariously high lol

Hey yes definitely hear you on the AV stuff. For some people it won’t matter at all, but for those who do care about that, we wanted to highlight what the current limitations are with a homekit-only setup. Also agree that you don’t need to choose one over the other. The best setup is complimenting HomeKit with something like home assistant or Control 4. Problem is, Home Assistant requires some technical know-how and Control 4 is expensive, so not everyone can go that route. The good news is there is so much you can do just with HomeKit, but that’s for another video! It may not sound like it from the video but we are actually big fans of HomeKit and use it every day. This video is more for people looking to set up a new system to know where they might come to a roadblock here and there with HomeKit, and sort of a wish list of things we hope Apple could eventually incorporate to make it more of a complete experience in and of itself. How are you using home assistant with HomeKit - do you mainly use HomeKit for geo-fencing and location or are there other elements of HomeKit that you’re incorporating with home assistant?

The Halo remotes really took the control4 AV experience to another level. We actually like using C4 and HomeKit together using Homebridge and the C4 driver. You get the best of both worlds. We though it would be good to highlight some of things HomeKit could borrow from the integrated system out there even though it might be a sensitive topic lol
