Hey, bro. Just wanto to say that I really liked your content. Been watching everything that you've made last years and it is really helping me to develop my game. I've seen u been out for a long time and just want to say: don't give up. Your work inspire people to do their best. May God bless you, legend ❤

Hey there! Thank you so much for the kind words. So happy to hear that I have inspired you in some way, thats really all I was hoping to accomplish. I’ve taken a bit of a break from content and game dev, couple months, as I have 3 little babies and full time work that has really taken all my free time. I’m slowly getting back into the routine though! Thanks for sticking around.

I've got everything working in this just fine except for the blending where the shape of the light is subtracted from the dark surface. Doing this renders all things drawn below the light source to be completely enveloped in black, I assume their shape is being deleted as well. Unsure as to how I can have my light exist at a depth where it is properly affecting all the sprites I want it to without it also just erasing them if I add the subtraction.

I can't seem to figure out how to disable the effect when I start my game. I have a roomTitleMenu I placed this effect object in and even when I start the game it is still showing. No mattter what room I am in it shows.

When minimizing the game or alt-tabbing, most of the screen goes black with only the glowing parts remaining. Has anyone else encountered this issue and knows how to fix it?

You may need to post your code for a review. I would suggest taking a look at your state machine to make sure you are not calling the Gummy function. I have this line in my step event: if (hsp != 0) image_xscale = sign(hsp) to make sure I manage the squishies, and I also have this at the very end xscale = approach(xscale, 1, 0.05); yscale = approach(yscale, 1, 0.05); to make I am also putting the player back to normal scale

what color gradient is your background?
@NorthGameStudio
@NorthGameStudio 6 ай бұрын
welp, thats a loaded question. the top is using #6EA2EC, the bottom is #D86058. However, I made 1 very large image, and I move it around until I obtain the part of the gradient that I prefer for the level.

Looks awesome, Kirby bird is dope.. I like how clean the wall slide and pushing animations are. Is the game planned to be more level focused like Mario or world focused like Metroid?

Thank you so much for support. I am not sure how I will plan it. For now, I am building it as levels, like Mario, but I would like to have a Metroid Overworld, but that might be out of scope and introduce so much more delay to the release

TL;DW: this does not help if you are trying to randomly generate items from bushes or something like that, its very primitive and will help if you have boxes like super mario bros where something HAS to come out of the box

@NorthGameStudio
@NorthGameStudio 6 ай бұрын
hey there! sorry for the late reply. I would suggest defining an array with multiple objects and then spawning an array value using the random range function. I havent implemented this as my game didnt really call for this functionality, but perhaps I might make a video on this later on. Let me know if you figure it out!

How can I get the particle system to stop running whenever I enter new rooms? It's persistent without me labelling it as so and won't stop generating particles even after the player object leaves the room I put the particle system object in.
@NorthGameStudio
@NorthGameStudio 6 ай бұрын
Make sure you have a destroy event on the object that references the particle. On my object, that spawns the particle, I have a Destroy Event with only one line: part_particles_create(oParticleController.particle_system, x, y, oParticleController.particleType_Fragment, 50)
