Gorgeous piece of furniture, appreciate your hard work and effort. The color scheme is all wrong for this piece in my humble opinion.

You were going to paint that blue? As in baby blue or navy blue? What are you crazy? I never heard of that brand,? I just think it’s a very nice piece and usable as it was. Instead of all that fussy vacuuming, get yourself a leaf blower. One of your competitors uses one and I thought it was such a fabulous idea. That is what I use now. I already had one. You may still need the vacuum to clean anything sticking, but the leaf blower on full blast will get at least 90% of the dust out of there quickie quick. Sometimes even a dumb jock has a good idea! As for your ideas, I am going to try your acetone method of cleaning up the stripper. The stripper makes such a god-awful mess! I am reluctant to use it instead of sanding because of all the gooey mess that never wants to let go. Is it expensive? It certainly isn’t in smaller quantities when it is known as nail polish remover. I already use nail polish remover from the dollar store to clean up some of my brushes.

Yes, I love a pale blue, but this wasn’t the piece for it. 😊 Yep, I’ve always used a blower as well especially after sanding. Acetone is very affordable. I buy it at Lowes in a large can for $20 and it lasts through several pieces. 😊🙌🏼

Black accents are very common in Art Deco furniture. The base was most likely originally painted black. My mom’s vanity had wooden pieces on the back with screws on the vanity and the mirror. Most of the furniture I’ve seen that is Art Deco was made similarly.

This might be helpful...but on veneers you should only use contact cement. It's kinda rubbery and doesn't get hard and brittle, which from the advice the person gave you about allowing the glue almost fully cure is most likely what they thought you were using. Also on trimming always a good idea to leave a little excess and then sand down for final finish.

I think you did a super job on the veneer patching---you are so patient & meticulous, the grain looks perfect, you're right, it's a little dark but only a smidge. The base is absolutely meant to be painted/stained black, very typical of deco furniture to have some black mixed in w/ the natural wood. But the finish---the whole point of art deco is the sleek, smooth curves, & this piece would have had a gloss finish of varnish or lacquer. If you like the oil finish, it is of course your piece of furniture to do with as you please, but to me it takes away from a very key principle of the design/style, which is, as you say,VERY art deco & quite unusual. As for that mirror attachment, I'd go to antique stores & look at how similar pieces attach the mirror. On my not-deco dressing table. there are 2 long pieces of wood that are screwed into the back of the mirror at the top & into the back of the table at the bottom, which holds the heavy mirror & its moveable side mirrors very firmly. Anyway---thanks for a most informative & relaxing video---always fun to watch someone else doing the work!

I put veneer on an end cabinet my mom's condo. Used a veneer glue on both sides. Once laid down it doesn't move. Seemed similar to rubber cement that is used on laminate for countertops. Nice work, lovely piece.

27:00 - Your choice of tools for some parts of this project leaves a lot to be desired. The razor you’re using is for scraping paint. There are actual razor blades that cut much better and would give you a much cleaner line. Not sure why you’re using what you are using, but you spend the money on the high end tools like the paint sprayer, spend a few more dollars and get the proper tools for the job. Thanks for listening,

You put too much work into these things to suggest a match and some gasoline. Whatever you list them for, do a best offer. The moment I saw particle board, aka glued sawdust, in the makeup it was over for me.The brutal look is, we hired a couple of furniture designers who are drunks and can't get rid of them.
