Just an update. I have a 2018 Vera S with 75,500 miles. I decided to do the transmission fluid and filter change. It was a rental car in great condition with 32K miles when I purchased it three years ago. It had no problems but I decided to do the change. When I drained the fluid and replaced the filter there was slightly more than 2 quarts in my catch pan. I then removed the transmission pan and removed the screen filter. That added almost 2 additional quarts of fluid drained out. The fluid was dark but relatively clean. The three magnets had some very fine metal but not much. I replaced the metal screen and gasket and buttoned it back up. I added 4 quarts of Nissan transmission fluid because that was same amount I drained out. It runs great. The worst thing is removing and reinstalling the fender liner. Also I filled the transmission by removing the filler tube when I had the fender liner off. Another person suggested this and it is the easiest way by far because the end cap on the filler tube is a pain to remove. You just need a flexible funnel.

I have a 2018 Versa. When you removed the drain plug to get the proper transmission fluid level, was the engine running? Also what is the transmission fluid capacity? My manual does not tell me this information. Thank you.

Thank you for the tip. Dielectric grease is an insulator so perhaps not a good idea to use it as described, just cleaning it up should suffice.

Dielectric grease is actually an insulator. Clean, connect/bolt, then apply at the end to all exposed metal.

Would have been nice to see it go in reverse to see if that was the fix.

I have in the last yr become fairly familiar with the common issues on these dct trans from ford. Grounding is one. Shift forks actuators are another. TCM faults are also possible. After that your next common faults deal in removing the trans. And that would be the clutch, shift forks, release bearings, or shaft seals. doing the clutch requires special tools on Amazon for about $120. If you plan to keep your 11 and newer focus or fiesta, it wouldn't be a bad thing to invest in the few specialized tools. Ford even says that if you replace the clutch, it's possible to notice some shutter for up to 5k miles after new replacement and the new clutch could go out in as early as 30k miles after replacement. Obviously, even as stated in the video, the actual fault does depend on what's going on and the codes.

Hi, Great Video. I have a Nissan March K13 with the same CVT it seems. There should be a metal filter just above the fluid cover. Does it need to be changed or cleaned? Or is it there for the car's life time? Thanks.
@grampzquadАй бұрын
It's a metal screen. You can take it out and clean also. The cartridge filter is the most important.

cleaning the grounds is good, you can see the corrosion on the cables, but diaelectric grease is non-conductive, better to clean it like you did, tighten them down and use some fluid film on the connections, or put the grease on top not between where you want metal to metal contact.

Super helpful! I'm so glad I found this video. Cracked my mirror backing into a spot when it hit a concrete pole, and initially tried putting on an adhesive glass because I thought it would be too complicated to remove the mirror myself. Well turns out that I didn't align the adhesive glass properly, which caused it to get caught in the mirror housing every time I tried to move it. Fast forward to me finding this video, and I followed your directions to a T and got my mirror out! It took me a whopping 2 minutes with a butter knife as my pry tool. Can't thank you enough!

Meh, it will work probably for a while, it’s the shift forks getting stuck is the main problem. Trans needs to be pulled and shift forks, bearing and clutch need replaced, this is a quick fix and god help whoever buys this car.
