This looked like it needed to be steamed cleaned by a carpet cleaner that sucks up the grime instead of pressure washed. That may be why you had such a hard time.

My neighbour did this to me. It still wounds me to this day to think why he would have done that as we always got on OK in passing. We never did anything horrible, no loud music or anything. To think he'd do that to a decent young couple with a baby trying to make their way in life. It caused us so many damp issues in our house, potentially harming our new family. The living room wall was wet to the touch because there was no cavity.

Honestly, I feel like if it looked brand new it would stick out. Has a cozy, 'old money' vibe to it where you can imagine the owner's uncle playing with the daughter-in-law of an aviation tycoon back in the day. Before eating steak sandwiches paid for by Mr. Underhill.
