First half roof job - Second half is a new year update + boiler service. Hope you guys enjoy. I've came across roofs with wearing coating before but this is a first for me with that much left on it, very odd for a roof of 20 odd years old, none of the other roofs on that road built at the same time have had the issue.

I came across this before cleaning a roof a few months back the lady had got roof cleaning done years ago they painted the roof in the cold weather and the paint stain everywhere instead of waiting until the spring/summer
@mark771939 ай бұрын
Looks to me like the roof was painted after installation. Seen this myself where the factory coating had an issue, and the manufacturer got out of doing a reroof under warranty, by painting the tiles. Note how the edges of the patches line up from one tile to the next.

Happy you're back Sid! Your progress and journey is incredible. Less than 3 years you went from 1k subs to almost 200k, and your business has grown from just you and a work van to you, employees, multiple work vans that are branded with their own systems in the back and consistent work. Not only has your channel and business grown, but your family too. Its incredible man, truly inspiring. I look forward to seeing you hit 200k this year!

The roof tile is made of concrete with a factory applied colour coating to make it look like slate, the coating is delaminating due to weather. The unevenness of delaminating suggests either a defect or poor manufacturing process.

Not under good/peaceful circumstances. They are coming up for dinner tomorrow. I definitely need a huge dose of organization. So thank you for calling me up on that! Thank you for your videos. I am learning a lot from them, how to use a pressure washer, how to afterwards clean the walls and push forward the soiled water, let the debris rest a little so that the water can drain from it before putting it in the bin. The only thing I had to learn by experience, by waking up the next morning with one eye shut, is to wear PROTECTIVE GLASSES. I am 53 and I bought my first ever pressure washer. I went with a second hand pressure washer from Kranzle 2160 TST, beast of a domestic use machine. I got too ethousiastic and something flew up in my eye. But nothing three days and nights of terramycine polymyxine b ointment couldn't heal. I just got a little warning, so not too bad. But for every highpressure washer user out there : WERE PROTECTIVE GLASSES pretty please. 🙂

Nice to see that you are starting to work smart. All the hard work you do will amount to nothing if you don’t have the correct infrastructure in place at the back end, getting help from your partner is a smart move, if you add her as an employee you can offset some of your wages onto her, this will enable you to pay less tax and still bring into the family home more income, it will also alleviate some of the pressure you are under. You can’t do it all yourself. The worst part of being a perfectionist is letting go. However, trying to do everything yourself will mean you are chasing your tail constantly. You are taking calls and emails whilst working on a job, this means that by the time you get home you have potentially forgotten who you need to call, your tired both physically and mentally and that doesn’t make for sound business decisions. If I was you (assuming your partner can do it, or hire someone to do it ) is have your phone diverted to that 3rd party, let them plan your diary, arrange for you to quote etc, that way when you do get home you can enjoy your family and know what is planned for the next day/week/month. Sid you will burn out if you carry on as you are, you are bloody good at what you do but as your business has expanded and become successful you need to have the back office support to enable that to continue. It’s hard to let go but I promise you if you do and you put the right people in place you will find a healthy work life balance and your family will have more quality time with you. Just my thoughts for what they are worth 👍🇬🇧

Sometimes if the pressure is to much it will take the coating off. I never use a power washer or anything like that. I always Scrape it off with a trowel. You do sometimes get a bad batch of tiles aswell
@PartridgeExteriorCleaning10 ай бұрын
Even with max pressure you'd have a hard time getting it off but could definitely take a little away. With the pressure settings we use we couldn't take any off even if I tried to, as you've seen on this video - even currently degrading coating won't come away. You'd have to sandblast it to actually get it all off, or just wait another 5-10 years and let the weather do its thing

I’ve tried and tested this method. Had some spare tiles and did tests. Even at 250 bar you never going to shift the coating off roof tiles. Proper roof cleaners use 80-100 bar . I’ve heard loads of Roofers say it will strip the coating which is just bull****. Mind you Roofers would rather replace a roof at 30k rather than have roof cleaners in at less than 10% of that price. Watch all the roofers give me some abuse now 😊. Keep doing what you’re doing Sid. Excellent work 👌🏻
@zeusricochant73579 ай бұрын
@@simonwaring2336 probably more money in jobbing jobs tbh. Never heard of a roofer saying that a roof needs replacing because of moss 😂😂. A roof needs replaced if the tiles are pourous and have holes in them or if the roof is nail sick

Problems with rooves these days. More Moss due to warmer, wetter, years , but then less cracking due to frost. More litchen due to cleaner air - less soot and sulphur from coal burning industry and homes. Wearing coatings might be from vehicle emission pollutants disolved in rain (just an idea)

What is the deciding factor as to whether you use the surface cleaner or the nozzle on the roof?
@PartridgeExteriorCleaning9 ай бұрын
Valleys & awkward reaches will mean I’ll usually just turbo it - anything easily reachable and large I’ll just use the surface cleaner. Both nozzles use different pressures to run well along with different angles which is why I don’t switch them out while I’m up there 👍

@PartridgeExteriorCleaning10 ай бұрын
Definitely a good start is just manually scraping with telescopic poles & following up with a biocide treatment. It'll get the same results as steam near enough just take about 6-12 months for the treatment to work its full magic. You'll learn your way around a roof and identify common problems. Will set you up nicely for steam/pressure washing enabling you to start that job with decent knowledge of how to clean a roof effectively.
