@@PoetWithPace Cheers Donato. My 11th official sub 3 at Yorkshire Marathon time was a dream come true after having Covid and struggling to breathe on a run, 4 days earlier. Mainly doing crappy solo virtual marathons for foreseeable future. (In fact, I did another yesterday). Sadly, can’t book any big races and only ran Yorkshire as Harrogate Hospital gave me a charity place. I can however earn race credits at small events by volunteering and also do guide running. Just the way things are. Sorry for the ‘radio silence’. Found it very difficult watching videos of the big races as it’s a reminder of what I’m missing and also how bad things are. I put in my GFA London application because I earned that right, but once again the chances of doing it are very slim.

Sorry for the delay in watching. Congratulations once again on an incredible Berlin time. Aid station little can be problem People need reminding to use the bins. That's down to individual person of course but also down to organisers to ram message home. Bloke saying you'd be lucky to get 3:30 is more than likely a keyboard warrior. People are generally in awe of what you do but there will always be snipers looking to have a dig. It just goes with the territory. Ps. So you have a return to New York in 2025. Wow. That’s amazing.

I've done Berlin 2023 & also this year. I knew the water stations were going to be chaos so carried a bottle of water and skipped the first few. It's purely down to the people, it's the only race I've encountered people pushing and shoving and the aid stations and then just chucking the cups on the ground. I also went to the Expo Saturday morning and had no issues. I had planned on splurging on merch but most things were sold out in my size. Thoroughly enjoyed this year's race everything went to plan. Last year I cramped up about 32km and it became a death march from there 😂.

I think you hit the nail on the head there Donato. Ibhave heard of problems at the Expo but on Fruday afternoon i sailed through and got in and out in under 30 minutes with bibs for both races, the 5k and 42k. The drink stations were even busier 45 minutes behind you and yes i was chatting with a guy who was jeffing a 6 hr race and so shifted up to the sub 4 pen so he didnt have to worry about the cut off. So even i was bobbing and weaving for the first half which ultimately meant I ran further to hit the time goals and blew up!! The event was well run. I got to my pen early and had empty toilets available while people were off in the bushes in the park, so i saw none of that stuff. The pen was empty when i got there. I was also near Potsdam Platz and walked to the start. It was great seeing the crowds begin to grow, the atmosphere was electric.

As ugly as the aid station mess was for a 3 hour runner, imagine what a pile was there for a 5 hour pace. Mostly the runners to blame, but paper cups would have been less dangerous than plastic cups.

@@PoetWithPace Yes, the runners were to blame as the bins were well marked, and it should be basic common sense. The Berlin Halbmarathon in April was the first time I've seen plastic cups. In the US paper cups are used. Plastic seems wastefull, and dangerous to step on.
