Wait until after the ex-div date before starting to sell Covered Calls, or your Call could be exercised before the ex-div date. You would lose the dividend and the shares to the Call buyer.

Umm you annualized isn't right. You used 365 should be 252 to be accurate as you took the monthly without the weekends. Also how is this a dividend stocks? They are less than 2%. I use VZ which is like 6%. This is important as they behave differently relative to market in a bull or bear market
@yieldcollectorКүн бұрын
I personally prefer lower yielding dividend stocks because I like the growth better, but that is a personal preference I suppose. As far as the annualized, I believe that I did it correctly www.borntosell.com/covered-call-tutorial/calculating-covered-call-returns .

Friend. So I guess risk reward comes into play. Yes you get a good return but with calls you have the chance of losing everything

Yes definitely. That's why I always keep my long Call trades pretty small.

@@yieldcollector I come from the forex world and we usually collect, 2:1, 3:1 risk reward for trades but for some reason with options it’s less than or equal to 1:1? Which i don’t quite understand.
@yieldcollector21 сағат бұрын
@@SimplyScalping You can understand the leverage when you look at the delta of your strike. The delta shows how much an option price would change for every $1 move in the underlying. So lets say you buy the 100 strike NVDA option that expires Oct 18th (89dte) for $24.30. That would cost you $2,430 for 1 contract which represents 100 shares. It has a delta of .80 which means that the option price will increase $.80 for every $1 move upwards. This gives you much greater leverage than buying the 100 NVDA shares outright (which would cost $11,800) .

Smart dude MC is the best. I use that to learn how to trade put spreads and then made my own scanner that gave me trades that I had 96% win rate. Only knock on mc is they don’t have spx option chain
@orkayen12 күн бұрын
Not sure whether you realized it or not. The win rate is easy to see from delta. If ATM strike is 0.50 delta, then the win rate is 50%. If delta is 0.2 (OTM), then the win rate is 20% (80% chance that it would expire worthless). If it is 0.8 delta then win rate is 80% as 20% chance of expiring worthless.
@yieldcollector12 күн бұрын
The delta values are a quick way to see approximate probabilities. With Market Chameleon, the actual win rate of each strike is calculated using actual backtested results. That is entirely different from probabilities.

Isnt rebalancing essentially requiring a day trade on all securities?
@yieldcollectorАй бұрын
The goal with that feature is to bring it in balance with your desired allocation. So it sells some higher weighted things to buy more lower weighted things. As long as you're not rebalancing daily you should be fine.
@russellmallory8960Ай бұрын
Thanks for the insight. I'll have to give it a look. I've been liking trading leaps and generally sell leaps puts at the same price that I buy leaps calls to lower the initial credit. Worst case scenario, you get put into shares at a price that you were willing to pay. If the trade goes your way, the put goes worthless, you collect current interest (around 5% on your money) and whatever the call makes you. Keep up the good work.
@philelmoАй бұрын
Hello! How do you enter credit spreads in the yield collector tracker?
@yieldcollectorАй бұрын
The app wasn't really designed for spreads. It was designed for keeping track of your cost basis for Wheel Strategy trades mostly. So unfortunately it won't be of much use for you for spreads, Iron Condors, etc..
@TheOriginalPickleRickАй бұрын
I think you might have to sell a few covered calls before the shares are called away. The option price of the covered call would need to be at or above the price you were assigned ( in the Put ) or you would lose money on share price ( the difference between what you bought them/sold them for ). I might give this a go. Thank you.
@yieldcollectorАй бұрын
Yeah you always want to make sure you're selling the Calls above your cost basis. Sometimes you will have to do it a few times before they are eventually called away. Sometimes it happens fast and sometimes you're stuck in a Wheel campaign for a year 😁.

@yieldcollectorАй бұрын

@TheOriginalPickleRickАй бұрын
Don't you find that the dividends are already built in to the options prices ?
@yieldcollectorАй бұрын
Maybe. But with a good stock, you will make the share price appreciation, plus div, plus option income (even if that is slightly less). Good stocks will usually recover pretty quickly whatever they lost from the div amount.

I also understand where you are coming from, but anytime Auntie Cathie is saying things like "democratizing venture capital" I get MORE nervous, not less. She has needed to be creative to torch as much money as she has during a period of overall strong growth, so my assumption is she and the team will work hard to figure out a way for this to blow up. She is gullible and arrogant, and in the half dozen times I've heard her out she has said almost nothing that wasn't pure fantasy. And her track record backs up her mouth. I wish you and anyone else well in this endeavour, I just won't touch her, or recommend her to anyone.
