I'm just getting into buying dividends.Once I own them, do I keep holding no matter what the price?
@yieldcollector11 ай бұрын
That's the idea. However, that's assuming you still like the company and the fundamentals are still good (and the dividend is still safe). Dips in price could also be a good time to add more shares. It's up to you.

Would like to know what you think of SVOL and QQQY. Lots of talk about them on KZbin. Both high yield.

QQQY is interesting. I am going to watch it for awhile before making a decision. The track record isn't long enough for me to give an opinion on it. I like SVOL. I will probably buy that one at some point.

Thanks. I sold some puts on SVOL yesterday but never got filled.@@yieldcollector

Do you sell any covered calls against these dividend stocks/etfs? I have a tendency to have my shares called away which prevents the compounding/growth you speak of.
@yieldcollector11 ай бұрын
Yeah I usually do sell Cov Calls. I have several dividend stocks in my portfolio that are below my cost basis right now. So I'm just holding them until they recover (and collecting dividends in the meantime). I also like to do far OTM Cov Calls so they are less likely to get called away as much.

@@yieldcollector Winning Video Again! Regarding your comment ... Is there a strategy for writing what I will call Sub-Acquisition calls when you're deep underwater? For instance - is it plausible to write a covered call below where you acquired the stock and watch the stock price so if it gets close to where you wrote the call ... either buy back the call or possibly roll the call to a higher strike? Does this have any sound thinking or am I off base? I have been trading energy stocks such as SLB, RIG, HES, HAL and October has been a killer! Thanks for your help and really appreciate the (videos) guidance!

Yeah I sometimes still sell Cov Calls even if I am far below my cost-basis. I sell them far OTM so they are less likely to get called away. I will then roll for a debit if it goes against me and my shares would get called away for a loss. I made a video about managing a losing trade if you're interested kzbin.info/www/bejne/sHLTZ5lvaLqBeLc .@@FLBeachBean
