Would you do this 15 days cruise to Hawaii again ? What were pros and cons etc
@AlanCarterTravel8 күн бұрын
The 5 days at sea each way was really too much for me, and I love cruising. I would fly to Hawaii next time and cruise from there.

Staying overnight in Honolulu was cool. Missing out on Maui (originally on the itinerary) was unfortunate.

As an American who has never been to NYC it does give me a chance to understand just how large a city it is. I live in a big city yet it pales in comparison.

Thanks for sharing your Diamondhead experience! I'm rethinking my ambition to do that myself! I'm guessing you didn't hit your 15 drink limit that day! Or maybe????
@AlanCarterTravel3 ай бұрын
Ha. Tom, I think I did hit the 15 drink cap that night because I ended up leaving the ship again that night and going to a bar in the Waikiki Beach area again after midnight. It was the first time I was at a port overnight, so I figured why not go out and explore. Cant remember the name of the bar, but it was pretty cool. It had live music and was open till at least 4 am. I still managed to go out in O'Ahu again the next day and get enough content for a day 2 O'Ahu vlog.

How was the hotel stay? Is the location close to restaurants? My husband and I are considering a Hawaii cruise for our 5th Anniversary and may consider staying at the same hotel since it is so close to the cruise port.

The restaurants weren't too far away. I liked that hotel. Affordable.

How long is the tender ride? 15-20 minutes?
@AlanCarterTravel3 ай бұрын
Yeah prob 20 to 30 minutes.
@kyraneizmen38483 ай бұрын
@@AlanCarterTravel that’s a long ride on a little boat, did anyone look like they were getting motion sick?
@AlanCarterTravel3 ай бұрын
@kyraneizmen3848 its not too bad. Ive never seen anyone get sick on a tender. Youll prob be waiting in line/waiting to get off longer than you are on the actual tender. If the seas are that rough, it would be unsafe to try to load the tender from the ship. Theyll usually cancel the port stop if it was that bad.
@AlanCarterTravel3 ай бұрын
@@kyraneizmen3848 I didn't notice anyone getting sick.

I’m not a smoker but I echo your sentiments about them turning the smoking lounge into an arcade. I live near the port and Discovery has been my favorite ship but the last few trips have been at full capacity just like this one and the crowding challenges with seating in the buffet and the elevator issues are glaring problems now. Bummer to hear about your issues with the front desk, my experience was great with Jesica, Shano and Flores, they were awesome!

Was on this cruise too, looking forward to your series. The evening spot is on the other side of the harbor in Long Beach. Tons of great places for food and drink over there.

How much was the crab? Thanks for sharing.
@AlanCarterTravel3 ай бұрын
I believe it was like $65 a pound for the king crab. With the soup and a drink it came out to like $80 something. Kind of expensive for what was essentially fast casual food.

How were the spots to enjoy a cigar? Was the place on the back of boat a nice place to enjoy a gar?
@AlanCarterTravel3 ай бұрын
Not great for smoking cigars really. They turned the indoor Churchill's cigar lounge into a "Churchill's Arcade". The deck 17 Aft smoking area is OK but the furniture is falling apart from heavy use. It's OK. Too bad about Churchills.
