Hawaii day 1! Hiking to the top of Diamond Head Crater & Waikiki Beach - Discovery Princess Cruise

After 5 days at sea, sailing from Los Angeles, we finally make it to the third largest Hawaiian island, O'Ahu. I make my way from the cruise ship terminal to Waikiki Beach and then hike my way to the top of Diamond Head Crater. Quite an adventure on one of the most beautiful islands I've ever seen.
You could call this vlog "Alan Crater Travel". Alright, I'll see myself out...
Diamond Head Crater Trail hiking tips:
1. Don't try to walk to the crater from the port or even Waikiki Beach. Take an Uber/Lyft. Trust me on this one.
2. Avoid trying to hike during the hottest/sunniest times of the day. There is little to no shade on the trail and it can get hot out there. Try hiking during the earlier trail times when the temperature is milder and the sun isn't out in full force.
3. Register and pay for an appointment to hike ahead of time. If you show up to the crater without a pre-registered appointment, they will not let you in.
4. Bring plenty of water. They have some vending machines at the base area next to the bathrooms if you forgot to bring some.
5. Have fun and enjoy the view!

Thanks for sharing your Diamondhead experience! I'm rethinking my ambition to do that myself! I'm guessing you didn't hit your 15 drink limit that day! Or maybe????

Ha. Tom, I think I did hit the 15 drink cap that night because I ended up leaving the ship again that night and going to a bar in the Waikiki Beach area again after midnight. It was the first time I was at a port overnight, so I figured why not go out and explore. Cant remember the name of the bar, but it was pretty cool. It had live music and was open till at least 4 am. I still managed to go out in O'Ahu again the next day and get enough content for a day 2 O'Ahu vlog.
