Bet the ferry skipper’s looking for a new job !! Bang out of order there. Can’t believe he never saw it coming?? That could have been very serious as the ferry was packed.

Bloody hell the ferry pilot will have some explaining to do… he was all over the bloody show.

My understanding, since that incident, The Ferries now have to radio port control to advise that they are about to sail (on every trip across the river), and shipping will be aware of the Ferry starting to move.

I sailed on her in the late 60's from Ardrossan to IOM in a hell of a gale in a journey I'll never forget. I think I must have been one of the few who weren't seasick, I may have felt better if I had been. The ship was awash with the stuff 🤢🤢 Sad to see her in such a state. I did hear a story that she had been used in a movie about the Titanic, where she played the part of the Carpathia, I don't know if it's true 👍👍

Bet both Skippers had their shit shoved back a fortnight.........argue all you want about who was right or wrong, but the simple Law of gross tonnage means you don't put yourself in the path of a much bigger vessel constrained by draught, and carrying an explosive cargo.

This video now has historic value to it. You can see how terraced houses have now been demolished and modern homes, with off street parking, have gone up in their place. Brill video with hindsight.

I say this is big disrespect to the non living crew members that perished on that sub they dredged it up to turn it into a museum piece they should have left it on the bottom with the crew members in their underwater grave

Nobody died on that sub. It's not a gravesite. It was sank, nobody was on it. All of the crew lived!

What a huge loss for maritime history. 😔 Almost the same thing happened to the ocean liner SS America which was being towed to become a floating hotel in Thailand, but things didn’t go according to plan and she was tragically wrecked off the Canary Islands. It’s a shame that all this history has been neglected only to be destroyed without any second thoughts.
