Lisa seems lovely. But I don't exactly think she's got a clear vision on her brief. She personally doesn't believe that the government should not be dictating to the BBC what can and cant be broadcast and produced. Then in the next breath she wants to please Alistair by saying she will look into making sure smaller podcasts with an informative slant should be encouraged. In my personal narrative the 2012 Olympics led to a ridiculously overinflated view of British pride which led us straight into Brexit. Which was itself a protest vote against the sitting conservative PM Cameron from lots of working class votes who hated austerity and voted against the governments position. It was an unconstitutionally binding referendum. We live in a parliamentary democracy. a 52/48 result is not a definitive outcome and should never have been taken as a vote "Giving people control". The prorogation of parliament was illegal and showed distain for the electorate.

Yes!! EXTREMISTS ARE THE SAME. My mum used to say:" Better be on the oposite side of the circule where the Communists and Fascists stand 'next' to each other; BUT do not 'stay there fixed', no, there needs to be movement slightñy to the left some times to ensure support yo the poor (WHO SHOULD NEVER BE POOR...), and movíng slightly to the right to support small and médium business WHICH are the brave untrepreneurs WHO provide work, tax money, and ingenuity. But,, do NOT allow big global companies to sell us bad cheeep things and pay badly and do not contribuye fairly paying tax TO PAY FOR SOCIAL SERVICES"... My mum, Romi, was an intelligent woman born in a small Village in Segovia, Spain. She did her GCSE equivalente in one and a half years, a few mire mi ths to become a secretary when she was a teenager in Madrid and helped by all her brother's and sisters. She went through the Spanish civil war, suffered the terrible Franco's dictatorship, worked 17 hrs per day in our little business helping my dad while learning by post French, Art, Dressmaking/tailoring, etc, etc,...WOMEN LIKE HER ARE THE PULLARS OF ANY GOOD SOCIETY WHO WOULD CREATE DEMOCRACY. ...OK...SORRY FOR LONG WRITING!🎉

Keir wants to be challenged ...are you joking? Keir Stalin is a ruthless leader who lied to get elected and then did a complete 180 on policy, purged anyone with opposing views from positions of power in the party. He now has absolute control over the government and the wider party. Democracy and socialism are dead within labour.

Great interview, but it is very worrying that the Minister for Culture, Media and Sport doesn’t mention music until 4 minutes before the end, and even then it’s only prompted…

What a superb interview, Alistair and Rory have that wonderful empathy that makes interviewees open up and reveal themselves more than just on a political level, Lisa Nandy is a star of the present Government and if the rest of the cabinet has her commitment then we are in good hands. Well done, can we have the rest of the cabinet over the upcoming months

52 48 for leave is a mandate for compromise 52 48 for remain wouldn't have been framed that way!
@neilbradley100
@neilbradley100 56 минут бұрын
Exactly what I have said before. If remain had won by the same margin, there would have been no talk of taking account of the 48% leavers. No, it would have been carry on as normal, except for ever closer union of course.

@@neilbradley100 Except that's complete nonsense. The EU had made repeated concessions to the UK in comparison to other member countries. The direction of travel was towards the UK being more independent of the EU rather than less independent. Those were all direct concessions to brexiteers in the UK government, between the UK government and the EU. The complete reverse of your last sentence is what was occurring in reality, irrelevant of the referendum.

She has said a lot of great things. I am a bit curious about why she is emphasising how Kier Starmer likes being challenged and her defence of John Ashworth? Because it’s quite clear that Kier is very ruthless in the way he deals with Pro Palestine Labour members, and unreasonably so for some imo. Clearly he doesn’t like being challenged on certain issues. Also John Ashworth was being a massive racist on live tv… which cost him his seat.

He is a perfect example of a "perfectly" educated smart politician. He is however brought up so disconnected from the reality the everyday Greek deals with, that his entire thought process is warped. His party is more left today than PASOK was after after the death of its founder (Papandreou). He is a populist but just doesn't understand it because he lacks basic understanding of economics, like the vast majority of politicians and he clearly is either lying or is delusional about issues like illegal immigration. I had big hopes for him to make serious reforms during his second term, since he has such a big parliamentary majority and due to the political system of Greece were the prime minister has almost absolute power. He basically controls directly the Executive and Legislative branches of government and indirectly but surely the Judicial branch as well. The only thing that he can't do simply by deciding it is change the constitution. Unfortunately Greece will again face huge economic and external threats in the coming years and he could really make a difference if he did the "unpopular" reforms. He was for me the last realistic chance for Greece to become a modern well functioning state, that will ensure its survival. Instead, at his core, he is a better educated Alexis Tsipras . Sad.
