That's like saying we only have two feet because shoes are sold in pairs. There was no practical reason to wire the world polyphase when they began the central distribution of power. In hind sight one could say that was stupid, but who would have thought electricity would turn out to be so useful in the home back then.

It's a Motobécane engine (called MBK in the last years). Bit this is a square cylinder with a round head... ? You should have painted it with the original blue.

@kw1984 Same problem here too on a 2005 (55) - I've just done putting new pads in the rear and while in pieces thought i'd have a look as I never ever use the parking brake.... and mine are exactly the same, lining came off the shoe body! Disgusting really!

Looks and sounds very healthy! I am working on mine at the moment; a 1966 Mobylette AV42 - it should be an easy task since it was running a year ago, but then it stood still due to other projects. Seems to be a pressent ride you've got :)

@celeronproductions Most of these engines don't idle perfectly, just they way they are. But as long as it stays running, but slow enough not to engage the clutch, it's fine.

Hi kieran, I have just get my self a 12V Dynamo (1930's) and jsut have to collect it now. I plan run it of my wolseley WD8. what will I be able to power with it, will it be possible to run a 12V kettle? Also will I have trouble keeping the dynamo seperate from the engine or should it be mounted on the trolley?

NOOOO, not flebay! You will find people selling over priced crap, buy from within the hobby, from other entusiasts, put an advert in the back of Stationary engine magazine. It will cost you less and you will get better results.

The primer was Blackfriars Red QD90 Anti Rust Primer For Metal which was applied to everything. The green was Buckingham green gloss from B&Q which was overcoated with a clear coat lacquer made by International Japlac The red is Blackfriar QD90 which is rust/petrol/oil resistant. No clear coat. Engine sprayed with black heat reistant BBQ paint. This isn't original colour but looks good. Everything sprayed with compressor.

water baking soda and electricity, you put one lead(I cant remeber which) on the tank and the other on another peice of metal, The rust is drawn off the tank and onto the other peice of metal. When in doubt....Google is your friend

Another one of your spot on restorations I see,I remember seeing your early vids when you were working on really small engines like Briggs etc.Quality of work has improved since, that Petter gleams and runs like a watch,in a somewhat more modern colour!! Do you plan to use the motor as a generator, can be done quite easily, thanks for showing us the petter!Stew.

Hi Kieran Same here. I hope to exhibit there next year though. The only thing is that we are about 150 miles away from the rally but if I do I may take a Wolseley WD8 and my PAZ1 (provided I can get it restored, find a full cowling and replace the bid end bearings).

Hi angus No I was just a spectator. I have yet to exhibit at a rally. The main problem is I have no trailer so I can't really move anything around. Hopefully next year a will manage to get to a rally or two.
