I don’t have $8,000 worth of Microtechs but close - 17 of the newer models and everyone has been absolutely perfect. I undoubtedly will come across one with an issue - I have found issues with every knife maker but Microtech has been listening to customers, adding new and improved features and materials - IMO more than any knife maker I know of. Appreciate what you do and that’s why you have my support! Great work guys!

I want to buy my first. I’m torn between the scarab and the combat troodon. Can you recommend one I’m looking for something strong that will last forever
@nruva3 ай бұрын
@@mufflager9065They’re both good knives, and are similar in size with the exception being that the Scarab is a bit thicker of a chassis. While I don’t think either would last forever, there are of course moving parts and springs to maintain and will eventually break, both should last you a very long time and with maintenance they should give you many, many years of trouble free operation. The Scarab feels more robust, but you do pay for that with a thicker knife overall. The Combat Troodon is a big, good, solid knife that almost completely disappears in a pocket. Of the big Microtechs, the combat is my favorite, and you can find a blade shape and profile for whatever you’re looking for. Oddly, the CTs can be more expensive than the Scarabs, though, so if budget is tight… I’d almost lean Scarab S/E or D/E-S. The dual single sided DES is kind of amazing, even if you do loose the ability to put your thumb on the spine for careful edge work. Having basically a drop point and a wharncliffe in one blade is pretty awesome. Basically, you can’t go wrong with either if you’re looking for an OTF that will be up to hard work as long as you’re willing to do a little routine maintenance.

I've been having trouble with misfires on the Gen 3's when I retract them. The combat troodon specially. It misfires 1 out of every 4 times. The scarab only once in 3 weeks since Iboughtit. The cypher 2 about 1 out of every 6 times. Do I need to lube the track, or is it something else?
@Mr.Fields.6 ай бұрын
most likely you've got some pocket lint causing issues . unscrew the glass breaker and blast it out with compressed air, then rem oil, then air again. this is more effective than just spraying into the front opening, driving debris deeper into the handle. before you put your otf in your pocket, turn your pocket inside out and make sure there's no lint.

33:13. Is where you can see/hear that "Dual fuel drivetrain" system aint dialed in just yet or perfectly solid like they been saying. Listen/ watch when he takes the penny off after he cant cut through it then trys to check the blade and it moves either side to side or in and out the blade even makes a clicking sound confirming its not solid or isnt after that test. Almost but still aint a deadlock or solid if this is your best examples

Can you explain to me why i keep seeing videos, comments, and reddit posts about microtech quality control going down hill the last few years? Why are newer microtechs not made nearly as well as older ones? Even more concerning is when people contact microtech about qc issues you blow them off and say contact the store they bought it from. It doesnt seem you stand behind your product. I always wanted a microtech but after all I've read and seen I'm starting to think twice.

Guys I love the brand and I love my Microtechs (I have a Scarab 2 proof run) so please don't take this as being a hater, but your serrations rip more than slice because the pattern you use is horrible. I've done extensive research and testing on serrations and what makes them perform well and the pattern they're ground in makes all the difference in the world, and the only other company that makes them worse than Microtech is Cold Steel. You have two size scallops in your pattern and the small size is far too small, and what ends up happening when you cut things is the points snag more than the scallops cut. I have serrated knives that can slice as cleanly as a straight razor. Another issue is that your blade grinds are thick AF, and then the serrations have to be ground in at an even steeper angle so the scallops themselves are door stops. These are the kinds of issues that make guys hate serrations but it doesn't have to be this way if you grind them with the right pattern and at a steeper angle.

My brand new gen 3 has had endless failures to deploy and retract out of the box. I’ve never carried it because of the 0% reliability. I also have a new outbreak makora that is sub par. Especially compared to my dlc shadow makora which is like a MP5. That was disappointing being it’s such a cool design. The button was very rough and had no clean break, the sound was muffled, there wasn’t much of a snap. I did do the otf treatment on that outbreak makora but it showed no progress then it failed so I put it back in the box and that’s where it’s been ever since. Lastly my dlc scarab 2 gen 2 has been perfect but has recently developed a rattle in the handle, with everything else combined it concerns me so I put that knife away as well. I currently carry the cypher gen 3 and that has been flawless.

It still remains angular. Microtech designers should think about making it more streamlined and elegant. This is your only Front-knife with a polymer handle finish, the same as Socom's. He's good, but his angularity spoils him.
