@@Vanlyf sorry my brain is cooked after a lot of video editing. My brain wasn't working😂 I guess I meant 96 watts (idk how I made 800 from 80 before hahah) So that's pretty normal. But did you say it was supposed to be a 200w panel? The angles can make a huge difference ofcourse but I get that's not a luxury u have since it's hard mounted on the roof. Anyways lovely video!
@Vanlyf8 күн бұрын
@ haha all good I get it :) The old panel was supposed to be 400w but that was total crap I think! I’d love to make a hinge mechanism for the panel to take advantage of it but maybe that’ll be in the future :)

Feedback for the title: 400AH doesn't mean anything if you don't write the voltage next to it. I have 60v 40AH so 200AH if it was 12V no? Just write in kWh next time pls❤️ Great vid otherwise

Love that a huge panel can run ac permanently. Honestly a game changer and makes you think about extended work trips if you’re able to run the ac. Also once the van gets down to temp in theory the ac should draw less since it’s just maintaining!.
@Vanlyf10 күн бұрын
@@HaydonRyan yea me too! It’s certainly better than before :) During night when there’s no heat from the sun it draws very minimal power just to maintain the temp too!

do a test as amps more important than volts, 12 or 24 volts cant move without amps, same size panels i have and aew 32 v each but are for 12 v,laid flat like you, 3 amps, raise to face sun a bit better was 9 amps each, and did same on a truck roof, wind is a huge pressure, so if you raise far end of front windward panel it deflects wind, improves fuel and handling, but gains extra amps facing more direct to sun, and a rear one can be angled opposite if your parked up with sun behind you, .laying down you will be well under 1000 watts, so can use cheap controller $30 ebay, you wont have space my truck had eng space to add 2nd alternator to also charge bank up when driving, or great after night heavy drain can bring batts up safe level in minutes. OVERALL YOU DID GREAT.

that is a good looking van.. you mine me asking how much you paid for this import from japan for awd version? i was thinking to get hiace converted by bus 4x4 or mine spec companies. but it cost way too much. that i could just get a van and a ute for the price they charge. 50k for conversion.... so now im thinking to get a imported hiace too just want to know the rough price .
@Vanlyf13 күн бұрын
Hey thanks! I think from memory I was around $25k AUD (15.5 USD) and that was from a importer located in Melbourne, it was an empty van of course and stock so there was extra cost in materials later on for the conversion, but they can work out way cheaper than the bus 4x4 converted ones, Only downside in my opinion is they are less capable than the bus 4x4 converted vans, (the upside is they are a factory vehicle so parts will be available for them for a long time)

Great setup mate. We recently spent heaps on solar & lithiums but found we didn’t have enough juice! 600 a/h lithiums,3000w inverter, 900 solar etc.. Great to run our a/c & induction cooking but when we park in the shade because it’s hot, bugger no solar. Get a generator they say. No way, we installed a modified alternator, puts out 180 amps at idle, 350 amps at 2,000 rpm. Killa. No generator nor carrying petrol. The car is our generator. If the batteries get down, start her up, those lithiums will take 125 amps, top them up in no time. Cool camper, cold beers.🎉

@waynejill13 күн бұрын
@@Vanlyfsorry should have said we have a slide on camper on the back of a bt50 cab chassis. Came across your channel looking at camping stuff. Anyway the alternator comes from the U.S., they get a standard new alternator, pull it apart & rewire it. Costs about $1500 with freight & $500 to rewire the vehicle. You can get them for most vehicles. We haven’t done any big trips through the deserts yet, see how we go.
