hi, let say AI or DO Module Faulty, if we change with same part number, still need to configuration hardware on TIA Portal or Simatic Manager and donwload changes to the PLC

How do I replace a Middle module(like AI module no 7) can I disconnect it from the rack without affecting the power supply for module no. 8?

You can remove the module if damaged and install a new one of same module. If you want to remove module no 7 you can. But after removing you must install no 8 to no 7 and change hardware configuration on TIA Portal or Simatic Manager and donwload changes to the PLC.

Engineering Portal thank you for your answer, so Siemens Most likely doesn’t have hot swap removable modules. You can’t replace one without removing the power supply and affecting the hole process conducted by the modules in the rack in which you need to do the replacement.

on 38's second of this video you can see bus connector which connects I/O modules together. If we remove 7's module the connection of 8's and 6's will broken. If this is not a problem you can replace the 7's module with a new one without removing power supply. Only 8's module will fail. For safety always work after stopping hole system and removing power supply. If you are using relay modules with DI and DO modules, and Isolators for AI and AO(recommended) modules SIEMENS Modules will never die. I see only damaged AI modules which is not protected with isolators.
