whoever wrote the code for that presentation needs to check it again, a NO input and NC input can't be made at the same time... unless some strange things are happening. seen it happen a few times, but under normal circumstances it shouldn't be the case.

In this video, you learn how you can create logic gates via simple ladder diagrams.This logic works for only digital signals. But many programming environments have logic blocks also and you can use this blocks for analog signals. This is a basic relationship.
