At least the Gogomoble had merit as a fun car, unlike the extremely terrible Zeta. Note that 1 pint to 2.5 gallons of gasoline is a mixing ratio is a 20:1 mixing ratio. This would require 2-stroke engine oil not readily available in Australia back then. Pre-mix was not widely available then either - and mixing yourself would soon be pretty annoying. Who remembers the old BSA Bantam 2-stroke motorbikes that specified using ordinary 4-stroke oil mixed 15:1 - resulting in continual spark plug trouble and exhaust clogged up with sludge?

In the early 30s there was a popular tango in Germany with the sentimental lyrics "In einer kleinen Konditorei, da saßen wir zwei, bei Kuchen und Tee...." In a small pastry shop, the two of us would sit over cake and tea..." It was soon ridiculed like "...da saßen wir zwei, und fraßen für drei..." The two of us would sit and devour enough for three... One parody was "auf einer endlos langen Chaussee, steht ein DKW, tief in Eis und Schnee..." On an endlessly long country road a DKW is stuck in ice and snow...

F for Frontantrieb- forward (wheel) drive. The last model to be produced before 1945 was the F 8. The beautiful streamline F 9 with its all-steel body instead of wood (either steam bend, laminated or ply) remained a blueprint. It was eventually built in Eastern Germany from the late 1940s onwards under the new name IFA of its producer. The management of DKW had gone west and after some time when it only built motorcycles entered the market with its own version of the F 9 project. It was the later 3=6 and 1000S .

Pretty cool car. Thanks for your time and effort to upload this. Around 54 years ago, when I was an apprentice, one of the tradesmen had one of these (he was from Europe). He took me for a long ride in it. It was quite an experience - loud and somewhat slow. At the time, I had a Kawasaki 500 triple motorbike, also loud though at least it was justifiable because if it's impressive speed. I joked that I wanted to put that motor into his car. He wasn't impressed and just said Why?, the car is fine just as it is! I just buttoned my lip and said okay.

Amazing to think that this is pretty much Genesis for what would become the GDR motor industry - the Trabant and the Wartburg would slowly evolve out of this technology. Look at that gear shifter - so similar to the AWZ P70 Zwickau. Deutscher Geschichte auf Räder!

Very nice DB8. 👍 Over the years I've noticed it's unusual enough to see the DB8 R in 98 spec. Most I've seen online and off were the 4 lug 96 spec cars. llooking at the Japanese auctions in the early 00's when I was looking for mine, white and silver seemed to be the most popular colours for the DB8's. Funny enough and for some reason silver was the least popular colour for the 2 door DC2 R's. Mine's a silver and still my daily since 05(190,000k). I'm the second owner too. This car's 2 door twin. 😁 They can be scarily reliable(touch wood), but if living anywhere damp _need_ rust protection like wax in the sills etc. I've known two examples here in Ireland that looked cosmetically really nice but ended up scrapped/parted out because of hidden tin worm. 😞 Mine's pretty much stock, though with OEM extras like a USDM R centre console, Euro clear indicator rear lights, rear foglight and I run Euro 15" wheels for more tyre choices(and bad roads). Mine was originally ordered full option delete except for aircon, so no airbags, ABS, third brakelight, clock, radio or speakers, but did come with the optional rear strut brace. I've since added a clock and radio.

Yeah - Cosmo - naut. But that name specifically was a character in a very popular U.S. movie (1937) and then early TV series (1953) called Topper - about an invisible couple who died in a CAR CRASH. Cosmo is a trusted assistant (an earlier version of the Hart to Hart series) and is played by the Man from Uncle Bureau Chief - a British Actor, and starred Cary Grant (movie only,) and some foxy brat. So - it's about an elite couple in a sports car who are driving fast and die young and yet ... live on. Any resemblance to that?

This is the car we need in Canada. Of course, we would want the steering wheel on the other side and a manual transmission. After brief reflection, the Probox seems to lack one feature which would further enhance its exceptional storage capacity. A fold-forward front passenger seat is seen on very few vehicles these days though it was once quite common across many brands. For the record, I drive a 2005 Pontiac Vibe with a 1ZZ-FE engine and 5 speed manual transmission. The Vibe was in production for model years 2003-2010. It was the non-identical twin of the Toyota Matrix 2003-2014.

A mid-60s DKW F-102, bought new, was a very good car and the only new one Dad ever had. He put 52K miles on it with no problems. Like VWs, they had no fixed cruising speed, just whatever it would do, up to 80mph if you were in a hurry. The main problem was that in NZ, mechanics who could service a 3-cyl 2T correctly were a rare breed. Example: I took it to a grease monkey in Barry's Point Road to be tested on a dynomometer. This genius confidently drove it into the customary position and put chocks on the front wheels. (I'm about 20 at the time) Before he could do any damage to dad's car, I told him. "Front wheel drive!" Long story short, it was a lovely looking car and I don't recall it smoking excessively. If I could obtain one now in working condition, I'd consider buying it as a hobby car.

You'll kinda been kiddin' me, right??😅😅😆 You live on far other side of the globe, in NZ and there's a guy who has brought a P70 to it?? xD What the actual f**k and HOW NICE is that, please??😄😃 You know, been born and actual living in former 'East Germany', I've NOT seen one at least since 15 years, back than on a meet of cars, motorbikes and trucks from the former 'Eastern Block'. :p Even 'Trabbis' were quite rare to spot in the wild these days. There a a lot but most of them became s.c. 'nice wether cars' or for the ride on Sundays or to a meeting. :) Thinking baxck around 10 years, you can see (and of cause hear and smell^^) them regularly on the streets. But a P70, that's a kind of it's own. Not compareable to the later P50, the 601 or even the 1.1 with it's licence build VW 1.1l 4-stroke out of the VW Polo.😃😃🙃 As for the 'Duroplast' panels they've nothing really to compare. But it's very nice to see some are left in good and even in far away distances to New Zealand.😁😋😊 Somthing nice to watch: In other, not socialist ways it may had come to some of that, in the engeneering labs of Zwickau.😁🤪 Enjoy. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aaGTaoSffN6eepI
