I love going there. Usually spend way to much time just looking around. There are nothing like this in Sweden since probably 20 years back now. Safety and environmental requirements put a stop to it. There are wreckers and a joint webpage between all of them where stock and what cars are in for dismantling can be viewed.

Super interesting! I did wonder if stuff like that was being cracked down on around the world. Glad it's still a thing here. Agreed with the time spent just looking around. I edited out a lot of pointless self commentary haha.

The lower hutt one is huge usually has a good selection. Ive got a bunch of parts over the years from there its great. Pulling a motor there with an oily puddle under the car and the annoying chain hoists and heavy wheelbarrows just add to the fun but the prices are good

The Tauranga one is definitely on the small side of things. I’ve walked out empty handed quite a few times due to being too late for the vehicle I needed. But this was a nice change to find a few things. Good fun!

Interesting cars, I love visiting wreckers and just looking around. What you called an Alto was also available in Hungary (and Eastern Europe) as the Daewoo Tico. But we also had older Altos, mostly 2 doors. The 4-doors were available as the Suzuki Maruti 800, they were imported from India. And that Isuzu Rodeo pickup was called an Opel Campo. Our Isuzu Rodeo was a 2-door SUV also called the Opel Frontera Sport. Confusing, eh? By the way the US market also had a supercharged Estima, it was called the Previa. But still, I've seen people import these and turbodiesel Estimas too.

It was in pretty decent condition too! Sad place for it to end up.

Use to go there literally every Friday (about 10 years ago) pulled many engines, yes it sucked but they were $120 for an engine.

L300, front suspension, estima supercharger, and they did not try to rip you off for rusty perished junk you could not remove. Too bad it's in tauranga.
