Reminds me of my youth and playing this song on juke box at work.

A great Jimmy Webb tune, a very complex song about people who have drifted and the toys are what they have. It's about two young people who get what they want and it isn't enough.

I was attending a Beach Boys concert in northern Indiana circa 1990 and was delighted that Glen came out from backstage and played a few numbers with the Boys! He was a big fan and friend of the Boys and went along on some of their tours. Although I'm not sure, it's possible that John Stamos played the drums that day. Also, Carl was still alive and when he sang God Only Knows it was an incredible moment. A day I will always remember!

I remember the first time I heard this song...cruising Indy streets in my 67 LeMans. The DJ said this recording was destined to be a big hit and it was backed by the vocals of the Crystals and Beach Boys. BJ Thomas has always been a favorite singer of mine.
