One of the problems with the Lanc was that it didn't have a co-pilot or dual controls. If my memory serves me correctly, I'm over 60 so will happily accept any advice, the navigator sat next to the pilot.

A question for everyone who has ever seen this film: What I can't understand is why I've never come across any examples, not even a single one, of something like this happening in real life. I live in the UK and I've never read of a single case of a group of police officers teaming up to execute scumbag criminals. Of all the tens of thousands of cops in the UK you'd think it would have happened once in all the years since this film was made in 1973, and before. But apparently not. Can anyone think of a reason why, and does anyone know of any examples in other countries, especially the US? And please...serious answers only. Paul Murphy, London, UK.

@BornRanger 22 күн бұрын
There are plenty of cases of cops (usually independently) going above the law to do what they think is right, or to do some pretty bad things.. In either case, it usually doesn't end well for them. They don't have a reason to create death squads, most people don't join the police force with an obsession for justice or taking out violent criminals no matter what it takes. They join either because they just generally believe that they can be good at protecting and serving the community, or just because they feel like they can do the job and get paid. They wouldn't stick their neck that far out, risk their career and freedom just to enter a warpath and turn into vigilantes, it will be short lived and they'll most likely end up in jail themselves. Also law enforcement and national security have become decentralized, there's always someone above you keeping an eye on you and making sure you don't get too far out of line, and a self appointed police death squad is sure to bring some terribly bad kind of attention to the department fast. It's also not easy for people to just go around executing others, even if those others are crooks and criminals that should never see the light of day. Cops aren't killers, killing isn't something you get used to unless you have some level of evil or sickness in you. Long story short: It doesn't hapoen because it would likely end their career, their freedom, they're not that heavily motivated to go above and beyond, and killing is no joke.

Movie was on tonght so i watchd it again after years. Can't help but make an observation that they've changed the dogs name to Trigger, when i last watched it i swear the name was different but rhymed. Today's over sensitive ethnic woke police methinks didn't like to state the dogs real name.

I remember reading a review about this movie when it came out. It told about how much excitement was generated by the old soldiers who flew the "Belle" because THEIR story was going to be put on the big screen. It also told of the massive and crushing disappointment they experienced when they saw this monstrosity. It didn't even come close to their story. Not a single original crew member's name is mentioned in context with the movie or the Belle. It's like they never existed. The only things the producers got right was the name of the plane, the country they flew from and the war they fought. I love watching the scenes of the bombers doing their thing the cinematography is truly amazing but, I despise this movie for what it did to the gentlemen that faced so much to preserve the freedom of the world those many years ago.

What pisses me off in the Dirty Harry series are the reused names. There are two Briggs, one in Magnum Force and another in Sudden Impact. There are also two Davis’: Charles “Scorpio” Davis in the first Dirty Harry and John Davis in Magnum Force. It’s totally obvious they’re not related but couldn’t the producers be more inventive?

Me 109's range was too short, to fly from bases in occupied Norway to England. Historically, the strike force did have longer-range Me 110's as escort, but that flying disaster was no match for Hurricanes. Maybe the producers couldn't find any still flyable for the movie? Wouldn't have mattered much...in the real battle, the 110's died as quickly as the Heinkel bombers.

This movie is a solid 10 but I hated Harry’s line about sticking with the system WHEN HIS FIRST MOVIE had nothing but him going against the system! He went as afar as to execute Scorpio and then discard his police badge, yet here he’s fine with doing whatever the law says? 😂 Gimmie a break Harry
@arryaxx263
@arryaxx263 Ай бұрын
The difference is that he believes in the law, but not the system that refuses to enforce it. The dirty cops don't believe in the law, only their own sense of justice, and show their corruption by murdering someone that doesn't deserve it. He throws away his badge, not because he's become a vigilante, but because what enforcement of the law has turned him into, a man with no friends or family, who even the department he dedicated himself to doesn't support. Even at the end of the first, he gives Scorpio a chance to give up. The dirty cops just run around murdering anyone they think is bad, with no regard for the law.
