When this happened to me, the dealership said the whole steering column would have to be replaced 😂. I ended up buying a used motor for $40 and that fixed it.

Hey guys, I'm about to jump into this project myself. Do you know how to tell if the motors damaged or done for before I do anything?
@daniellarson44152 күн бұрын
Yes I liked and subscribed because you did a great job on this video. very nice
@gtflips2 күн бұрын
@@daniellarson4415 the biggest concern would be have you overheated your engine? Becuase then you can run into the headgaskets failing from overheating. If you didnt overheat it and the engine is the running smooth then im pretty sure your engine is good to go. But if you did overheat your engine you can do a leak down/combustion test.

@@gtflips It wasn't my car. I bought it cheap as a no-run and realized it had coolant in the oil pan. I couldn't start it so I'm wondering if it's gone. I would've felt better if it started. I can do the water pump and the head gasket, just a lot of time and money if there's something I'm overlooking. Just asking for tips to be watching out for.

Funny enough VW did the same with their 12v VR6, is weird as they only have the coolant lines on certain motors. My retired 1.8t thankfully never had to go through such issues.

Make sure that your engine is cool? Always have a warm engine when changing oil. That's insane to change while cool. If too hot, pop the hood, run a fan for 20 minutes, then start the oil change. Also, pop the oil filler cap before draining to allow oil to flow faster.

I know this is 2 years old but I was able to get an OE product for $70 on EBay, same exact part I would’ve got from AutoZone for $110+. Luckily these are located on the lower front bumper and doesn’t need any type of subframe dropping or what not.

I don’t care how cheap it was to do this. Show people how to do it in a way that will actually last! Not removing rust is a critical mistake that will just cause all this time and material to go in the shitter. For Christ sake at 17:48 you can see it already had came off at the end of the panel!

Was the customer getting a check engine light and a P0016 for bank 1, cam a? Ours(My daughters) is getting a P0016, happened quick, still had water in reservoir, so it got caught early. My scan tool showed the cam was running 12 degrees advanced. I pressurized the cooling system to verify coolant leaking in oil. Most likely the water pump. Thanks for the video, lots of helpful tips.
