I own all the items shown plus many others. Many of the items shown are sold on Temu for 1/2 the price. Items such as the T-shirt templates, grips hand sewing needles holder, clapper and more. The quality is just the same. In fact, I own a high end Babylock sewing and Embroidery machine and have purchased many extra feet for my machine for a few dollars. They work as well as the ones i purchased from Babylock. Two items I purchased from Harbor FreighI far cheaper than the prices shown. They are the magnetic pin lifter. It was about $1.99. The other thing is a right angle screw driver. It works far better than the one shown. It’s small but it has a screw down near the end that you can turn rather than the having to turn the handle. It has a socket and several,sizes of screw driver heads you can use. You will not be able to live without this screw driver and it cost about $6.99 at Harbor Freight. While you’re there, you may want to check their lighting and magnetic nuts and bolts dish for your pins. They come in all different colors. I’m not trying to tell anyone where to spend your money, but when it comes to items like these, I try to make mine go as far as I can. This is a useful video as far as pointing out helpful sewing tools, I just wouldn’t go to Amazon first if I can find the same item elsewhere for less.

Nope, I'm right there too, I live in an old house that loves dust!!!! all my fabrics and basically everything is in drawers in my craft room!! 😫😢 I would love open storage but I love my late 1800 home more 😊😊😊

Hi Kim Just starting with projector. Thanks for all your information. With regards to adjusting patterns, I would probably take your advice on printing those pieces. Afterwards, could we just take a picture and draw the adjusted piece for future use like you didi on the Cadence in video 4?
@dorothysdaughtersews28 күн бұрын
Yes, you could as long as you are careful about the calibration.

So if my bust and hip are a size L, but my waist is an XXL, do I just blend it the opposite way?
@dorothysdaughtersews28 күн бұрын
Yes. I always have to bond out to a larger size at the waist.

Great, thank you so much for your response. It really helps me understand exactly how to get my pattern pieces cut and sewn correctly to fit my body. Which is after all the best part of making our own wardrobe!@@dorothysdaughtersews

What about using the serger as a sewing machine?
@dorothysdaughtersewsАй бұрын
There are necessary sewing steps with a regular machine that you can’t accomplish with a serger.

For anybody on a budget, 95% of these sorts of tools one can improvise with normal kitchen household other items. As well, Dollar stored offer many sorts of these items that one can improvise. Everyone worried about climate change but here we go again. Does buying more “stuff” make you feel more like a true tailor or crafter??🤷♀️

I enjoyed your video and learned some good tips! I have a hemming job to do on a pair of pants that look to be done on a knitting machine with fine cotton/poly yarn. The pants have a flared bottom, so the hem may have a slight curve. The fabric has a variable rib pattern, so it both very stretchy and quite heavy. The original finish at the pant hem line is a few rows of 1x1 ribbing so there is no added bulk of a turn-up hem. My thoughts on how to tackle this seem to come down to using an iron on knit interfacing strip along the proposed new hem line on the wrong side to add some stability. Cut off the excess, then use a zig-zag overcast edging stitch around in matching thread by machine. Does this sound like a good way to go about it? Any suggestions you may offer are appreciated. (And while I do knit, trying to pick up the very fine stitches at the new hem line to knit a finished edge is not a consideration. ) ps the pants are black so I think that may also work in my favour!

Nice video...I like your scripture listed on your wall..actually verses 21 and 22 are very good. I am considering an upgrade from my Brother serger. It's been a good machine, but I hate threading it and I cycle the colors just like you did. It also struggles with heavy fabrics. TFS

When I got my new serger home many years ago(25 to be exact) threading it prevented me from using it for, well about 24 years. It sat in the closet all this time. I’m bound and determined to figure this contraption out or it’s going out the proverbial window. I’ve been at it for a few weeks now and your videos have been a godsend to me, you have given me courage not to chuck it, much gratitude for all you do and have done for beginning sewers like myself, thank you so very much! I’ll keep my nose to the grindstone and get more comfortable with the machine!
