Honestly. No. The person should've been sacked the moment they couldn't deliver on their promises. Omocat was too generous, benevolent with this person meanwhile any other boss would've just fired them. Time theft, unapproved overtime, and then mocking the rest of the team? To top it all off they took a break which was apparently a contract violation? Finally out of pettiness, they come out in an attempt to slander their former employer because they aren't receiving royalties? After stealing hours and working unapproved overtime? Cry me a river, you got your money already, then you started to change up your story the moment omocat along with the rest of the dev team came out with their sides of the story.

The whole situation has made me even more baffled that the finished product is one of my favorite games of all time. It's shown how unprofessional, inexperienced, and incompetent they are to an even greater degree than the kickstarter's fiasco did. Everyone, Melon included. I'm so glad I played this game when I had no clue who any of these people were(despite several of them apparently being well known in the weeb sphere?) or the kickstarter because I probably wouldn't have wanted to touch it with a 10 foot pole if I did. It's the best evidence for the existence of a god of some kind, since I'm pretty sure it was an act of divine intervention that there aren't 5 people total who can actually enjoy this thing.

I saw someone say this, but this situation is a perfect example of what happens when your work relationships get intertwined or confused with your personal relationships. I don’t agree omocat is completely at fault, melon has a right to be mad at things but also in fault as well.

something I think is important is that melon said he took a long break from burnt out, THEN took unchecked medical leave. Then started only mentioning their absence as just medical leave after responding to more people about it.

So.... tldr for some of you people: OMOCAT isn't good at managing a company and consequences of problems that have occurred in the past are now rearing their heads in the present. Honestly? Not surprised all that much. Things were obviously all out of whack on the development side of things since all the crap with the Kickstarter to release time so it's easy to believe stuff like this is coming out. (Though I don't think OMOCAT is doing this on purpose like some people, again she just isn't that good at management and as such made some pretty questionable choices in this situation and with development on OMORI as a whole.) I just don't like that people are using this as a reason to absolutely dogpile OMOCAT with things that were brought up in the past, like okay this is a serious situation that needs to be talked about but keep the unrelated and irrelevant crap out of it. Also, got to love that this is another thing that should've been handled privately but instead had public call outs and name calling from both sides. OMOCAT desperately needs some kind of official lawyer because I do not think she can continue making statements without somehow making things worse for her case. Conflicting statements from her are the main reason people are having a hard time trusting her right now.

There is more evidence in favor of omocat than melonkid in who was really in the wrong. Both sides made mistakes but Omocat shouldn’t be cancelled or cosnidered fallen by any means. Also, Melonkid seriously had some mental issues most likely and didn’t really know when to get themselves to stop working.

Omocat isn't in the wrong here, it was found out that person was lying and wasn't doing their job right. They were doing everything they could to work overtime when they weren't supposed to- trying to take other people's hours, criticizing them, and changing other's work as well. Omocat for this, stated they were no longer getting royalties or anymore overtime for the things they did. They are very full of themselves.
