Awesome. Been killing it by that church I was telling you about all spring. With a spinner & corn that is. Fly rod? You the man, Norm. Took my streamer rod down there early May. Caught some big largies on it about a mile further north from the church. Respect.

I still use sewing string Walmart hooks and nail polish for my flies because I’m broke and fly fishing is not so much for the poor
@user-hb2gh6wh7e2 ай бұрын
I've been using two-wrap nail-knots to attach flies to tippet. A wood toothpick helps. A nail-knot is also how I attach sections of leader. I feed smaller leader sections thru a double-over-hand knot that terminates the fatter sections, again a double-wrap-nail-knot. I think that the nail-knot is the best because it disallows the mono to stretch across multiple wraps, like a clinch-knot.

Some amazing water Norm and some great fishing. I bet that big rainbow felt like a hell of a weight with that amount of water running down. Nice one mate. Take care. Shaun.

Really great stuff Norm. For me the second half was it. As soon as I seen those lures/Streamers, I knew this was going to be, big fish time. And you did not disappoint. I have one lure that is hitting fish regular. We call it the Hays Black and Blue. It looks much the same as a lot of lures or streamers. But its the way it is tied. Really enjoyed the video mate. Take care Norm. Shaun.

Great video and lots of great fish! I'm making my first trip to the San Juan in late March 2024. Lots of big fish - are the fish tippet-wary? For euronymphing, will #4-5 tippet be too big or do you recommend #6? Thanks

Awesome Norm! Lots of fish, and I like your micro annelid pattern. Sux you lost that fish at the end, but you'll stick um next time👍 Tight lines, Steve✌️

I get that there was that hesitation in the last drift, but there were a couple of pauses during the previous drift. Were you shallower in the last drift so you knew it wasn't just bumping the bottom?

Great video, thank you! But whoever decided to put electrical gear on a ridge immediately above those rock formations...who made that decision? It torques me, as a fly fisher.

Good content. A little more footage of water currents and leader angles and how u change that angle for types of water or wind. How come u didn’t throw euro streamers?
@NMaktimaFlyFishing5 ай бұрын
Getting the leader to show up on camera in during the actual drift in during those light conditions is tough, but always trying to get that footage. As well, I just didn't need to fish jig streamers, caught plenty of fish. That may be a video all on its own. Thanks for the comment and checking out the video - Cheers!
