I love the "prick" at :22 because that's exactly how I feel about it! I've been fighting with doors on a 2004 Blazer "camp truck" for a long time. All the relevant videos YT are about how to replace the pins - except this one. There are a few other options that involve welding a plate to the inner hinge, and I considered bolting something in there (as I don't/can't weld). Without question, this is the perfect, simple, easy to see (then why didn't anyone else see it?) solution. I'll fix my doors and let everyone know how it worked out. This

Well, got this done on driver's side and it worked pretty good. Was a lot more difficult that I expected, getting the bottom one in cost my wife's precious ears quite a few f-bombs, but at the end of the day, problem solved. Thanks again.

Excellent had the same problem and still having the same problem with my driver side door replaced it one time with the aftermarket doorman’s however, luckily I had an old handyman that was able to help me. Getting the door off is no problem however, he did have to weld a little filler because the weight of the spacer broke and it over without the actual hinge so he was able to fill in that over a little bit re-drill it out put a new set in and it worked perfectly and I bought him a case of beer and he had to use two of his Dremel sanders so I wish I had a buddy that had a little bit more experience because I would hate to have to go back and ask him again. This was probably 10 years ago. But if there’s anybody that’s seeing this video and seeing my message if you live in Carroll county, Maryland Mount Airy 21771. Please hook up with me and I’ll pay you and help you do the job we can prop the door up on the bucket until we get everything aligned And then will just take it off or place it back on and have a little bit of assistance from the bucket to hold everything in place but I like this guys replacement of the doorman hinge because those spacers don’t last. May be buying an original S 10 set might do a little better I don’t know, but the doorman collar seem to crack within a couple of uses they’re not made to tolerate that wiggle. Be nice if I could get a fat steel collar and somebody show me how to do this torch welding and adjust acetylene in the oxygen and I could do this. Maybe once every five years I got 215,000 miles on my S 10 2001 extended cab. I just recently blower and gasket and tarp and gaskets along with the updated AC Delco spider injector. Don’t think I really needed to do that but since I had it off I figured I would along with a water pump. However, during the process, I must’ve been one of the AC compressor lines that I originally had fixed with some sealant at the shop but after taking everything apart and getting everything out of there, I could see the liquid die but it’s only at the fitting so hopefully it’s just that small section, that goes to the silver canister. But anyway, I know a shop would probably charge me $15-$2000 to fix the door and to replace the AC line. Like I said the line that goes to it is the bottom line that it’s right underneath it all trans cooler side. But anyway, all this started for me getting coolant into my oil pan but this S 10 engine was and it’s still in great condition. Now that all that is fixed I would love to have my AC back and my door. However, I did go to a LQK junkyard and buy a new driver side door. However, I forgot to grab the key out of the ignition so I’ll either have to buy a new key and handle or just have to climb in through the passenger seat and unlock the door, which is probably what I’ll do. But anyway I’m rambling. Anybody know how to do this that’s in Carroll county mount airy MD 21771. Please reach out I can come to you or you can come to me. Awesome video with the boats. I think that’s going to be a killer he oughta make an update see how she still doing after all this time. Thanks, you’re great video.

Nice work man, I've found the same issue using Dorman pins on my 2000 Blazer, also one thing I've ran across on GMC and Chevy's is that I almost always have to retrofit something. Thanks for the tip on using bolts!

Had absolutely nothing to lose trying this. Hinges on my 99 blazer are shot, new pins and bushings was going to be a waste of money, and I could no see spending the money for new hinges. The holes on my door half of the hinge were worn to the point they were breaking out. I tack welded them and then welded a grade 8 washer on them to stiffen the whole mess up. Worked like a charm. My striker was also starting to test out. When I straightened it up and started welding it back in place I found it was already repaired once before and the sheet metal was ground thin. I used an 1/8 inch by 2x2 angle, fastening it to the face of the pillar by bolts, drilling it out and mounting the striker directly to the angle as the angle I used was the same thickness as the shims behind the striker. After giving everything a bath in lithium grease that door swings, closes, and works as good as one on the show room floor without the cost and headache of installing new hinges.
