This is next-level bikepacking! Bridging those remote roads with serious hikes takes real dedication. Norway’s wild landscapes are perfect for pushing the limits- can’t wait to see where you take us next. Thanks for sharing this epic adventure!

Oslo is doing a lot to get rid of cars. So much, in fact, that the rush our problems are getting bigger, since some people still depend on cars to get everyday logistics to work, and with less road space and less parking, the problems increase even if the number of cars decrease.

Hi Matthew, avid watcher here. Apologies if you mention this in one of your videos but I hope you can help. I'm planning to cycle the bottom of Lofoten to Nordkapp. I will be flying from the UK. Which airports are best options to fly into for Lofoten and then Nordkapp (best priced ideally) Any tips would be welcomed. Thanks!

So, when Trolstigen will open, you can make a most scenic route starting eg in Stryn trough Gamle Strynefjellsvegen to Grotli, than Geiranger, Eidsdal than ⛴️ to Linge, Valdal, Trollstigen, Romsdalen, Dombas, Oppdal, Gjora and down to Sunndal trough Sunndalsvegen :) it is about 440km/7500up.

I am from a village close to Måløy and I agree it is a nice place to ride. But at the other side it is scary also. The roads are small and many drivers are not used to cyclists so you really have to be careful!!

Thank you very much, Matthew, for giving these pieces of advice and "instructions". We see and experience more pollution from tourists, especially at the most iconic destinations. As you may know, there is a discussion going on in Norway whether "Allemannsretten" should be applied to foreigners due to all the pollution seen at the popular tourist attractions. Of course, some Norwegians also pollute, but most of us are familiar with the rules. Let's hope your video sets a new standard of behaviour. I really appreciate your attempt to inform foreigners about wild camping. Excellent work! BTW -love your videos!

Absolutely stunning! Your channel is truly a gift. After hiking across numerous boulder fields in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, I cannot imagine doing it carrying a bike. Looking forward to cycling and hiking across Norway in the near future. Cheers.

I got exactely in the same situation in July this year, but from Ovre Ardal direction. Didn't even try to cross over the snow. Yet the road is so amazing I'm gonna try again.

That was madness to do a 10-miler on top of a 70-mile ride in one day. I expect you have learned a massive lesson. Take your time Matthew enjoyment . Spectacular route and film, really enjoy your stuff, and you inspired me to my own Norway cycling trip I'm just back from. Rallarvegen was amazing, among many others. Easy, manageable distances!

nice one... but you missed the scenic route over Glittertind. but it wouldbe better to hike the other way with bikes - its easier to go up than down when its steep. ..maybe it could be possible to take the wheels of so the bike package was more compact and easier to handle in rough terrain... maybe with the frame vertikal and higher.

Fabulous! Made my day! When i was 12, my family and i camped at Spiterstulen then walked over what felt like an endless boulder field on the way to the top of Galdhopiggen. Happy days. Thanks for sharing your wondeful adventures. Lovely waffles, too. Greetings from Devon.

Did this crazy uphill week ago, it is definitely one of the toughest, my garmin was showing more than 10% all the time (beside the one flat section). I don’t recommend this if you are already after 200km and 2500 of climbing that day ;)
@mihaurs212 күн бұрын
Thanks for showing this! I made it on my road bike with 28mm. Had to flats on gravel flat section on top. Uphill is really tough one with bags on bike. But it is definitely worth it!

We did Aursjovegen loop 3 days ago, what a nice day out! We did the complete loop (150 km, 2300 vertical) in a day, a bit tired at the end but well worth it! Today we did Tour de Dovre, also a superb loop to do! The Atlantic Road we did last year, it was quite horrible with the trailers and camper vans….

Hei Matthew. Looks great! Now that my back is working again (bloody back - two summers in a row it's locked up painfully ) I'm off to do this route tomorrow. On the map of the route you have plotted cycling the west side of the river between Kvam and Vinstra, but on the video you appear to cycle on the east side of the river. I'm inclined to stay on the east side. Is that best?
@matthewnorway19 күн бұрын
Both are great to do. The west you cycle closer to the river but on the east you are higher up with more views of the valley. You decide!
@mwhiting117 күн бұрын
@@matthewnorway Thanks Matthew. I took the east side. Lovely ride. Especially with the solid warm-up to start with 😅

The loop is part of Fjord Norway which I was lucky to cycle last year. I still think of it regularly. It was a dream and I had a strong tailwind up there. Downside was the loop came to an end too quickly. 😄
