The easiest way to separate the nut from the husk is to let them dry out (will go from green to black). Put a peck or two into a burlap sack and slowly drive over them with a truck or tractor. Cool machine. I use the same concept to crush my grapes when I make wine.

Not sure if it was mentioned anywhere in the comments, but getting the pH of water right is also essential with basic household ingredients. I use rain water (from a rain barrel) which is naturally acidic due to hydrocarbon pollution in the atmosphere. I have apH test kit and add about 1/16 to an 1/8 tsp baking soda to bring the pH down. Tap water is fairly neutral where I live, but I have heard for hydro, you want a little lower than 7 vs a soil grow. I'll leave that up to you all to figure out, but I'm guessing to make it more acidic, you could add some white vinegar, like was used in the video. In that case, I believe he was making the point of if you only use a minimal amount of vinegar with eggshells, the calcium in the eggshells neutralizes the acid, just like antacid (calcium and/or magnesium) do for stomach acid. I also recommend testing the pH after the nutes are added to the water for this reason, vs. just the water itself. (oh, and dude needs to clean his stove burners...😅)

Preheating the molds will cause less shrinkage, voids and for them to release easily especially if they are quenched. The Aluminium contracts more than the iron .. Mind you the iron former inside the soap dish if probably getting grabbed bt the Aluminium as it cools.. As you mentioned lost foam/wax probably better process.

I admire and salute your passion for the mighty 'Acorn'! I have been harvesting acorns for nearly 20 years, not on any large scale, just for a supply to expirement with making bread, muffins, pancakes, roasted acorn nuts . . . . and soon to try 'Waffles'! (; Now, my youngest son (of 3) bought some property with countless huge white and red oaks that pour acorns like rain! After the years of growing up with 'acorn pancakes' with maple syrup from local trees, my three boys and I have been talking about designing and building a shelling machine specifically for the shape and size of these (extremely uniform in shape and size) nuts. I would be interested in purchasing any design you have come up with that works well. I have just begun this mission, so I expect a lot of trial and error, just gathered almost 200lbs of culled, boiled and dried nuts ready for lab experiments (:

When I was working on the farm/earth ship in Idaho we used hot compost piles to heat up water for outdoor showers by running the plastic tubing where the water flows inside the compost pile. We had to be careful not to get the compost pile too hot or the water would be scalding. Pro tip: we use brand new plastic piping for the water to ensure it had no holes avoiding contamination

Well at least you opened it up instead of cutting the case like I had seen on other videos.... I have a TAO-60 with mechanical function switches that I have repaired multiple times, and it was always the same portion of the switch that failed that supplied power in out to the timers. The repairs always worked for about a month or two only to fail again so sort of like you I did a little bit of rewiring. that left "all" the functions working. My repair consisted of removing the failed switch contact plate because the switch was grinding and would not turn smoothly. Once the damaged (melted) contact plate of the switch was removed (4 tabs hold the contact plate in the switch housing removed with a sharp knife) I cleaned out the I removed all lose pieces inside the housing plus indexing ball with its spring only on the failed side of the switch leave the other contact plate alone. Then I connected the 3 wires (the brown - power in - and the 2 white, power for the timers) together then labeled the toast timer "toast only!". Which solved the failed function switch problem and left all the functions in working order and because I removed the failed timer contacts the function dial turns smoothly. You just have to remember the toast timer is only used for toast otherwise you will melt the toast timer. I have been running my TAO-60 this way for over a year and a half with no problems at all. It seems there is a design flaw in that portion of the function switch causing the contacts to overheat and melt the contact plate allowing the contacts to fall out and begin to jam the function dial... At 6 months and 1 year after this repair I opened the case to verify nothing else is showing signs of melting or overheating and all is perfect.

Have you come across a channel that talks about attaching trailers to trikes? My trike is purely utilitarian, and my trailer is a beach wagon, so also free-standing. I need ideas on not too weird options for attaching and detaching the trailer to my trike. Any help is very much appreciated.

sorry to hear that. I’m watching this while applying castor oil to face and feet. It’s known for its medicinal benefits in some countries and in alternative medicine. If I recall correctly, castor husks or seeds are sometimes given to cattle to maintain their health, although I’m not certain about the exact amount.

I like your chain design - but I'm ready to see another video just on a rear Stays / Triangle mount. That was just a tease. ALSO - though - if you have a welder - it's pretty easy to make a round clamp and you can ditch the angle iron, the hose clamps, and the funky padding. As if you haven't figured this out since the video?

Hi Diecaster D, I think those augers in mills are not uniform, the width of the groove gets smaller or larger as you get closer to the grinding disks. I think this is to push the grain in better. I have a grain mill similar quality to the meat mincer you showed in the video. it is very slow to use. But it gets there in the end. Same as my coffee mill, slow, The coffee mill has a cone for grinding instead of two plates. Both of my devices need a small motor.
