That molding press has turned out really well. Works great. I don't think I have ever had Mg, but I see a lot of Zinc. I haven't had my foundry on in ages.

Cool stuff. I've never come across any magnesium luckily. You can test for it with vinegar but I admit I never bother because I mostly only cast (A356) alloy wheel metal. Maybe now I'll start testing new scrap just to be safe though... The pour before you said you lost track looked much hotter than the others, that may also affect the quality of those bars. The real question is, how did they look once you turned them down on the lathe? 😁

Did you preheat the mold before pouring? That is generally done with steel molds.
