good video but it is not the strongest knot for ANY situation except MAYBE snelling hooks....

I struggle with fishing line when it comes to tying knots. thanks for doing this at a slower speed than many others. I have successfully conquered this knot, thanks to this video

I get confused and flustered easily, but you explain and demonstrate the steps so resolutely, I'm able to follow along seamlessly, which is extremely rare for me. Sometimes I practice knots for no reason so I can watch your videos 🤩 I think you're the best. Thank you for your content!

This is great when using fencing wire to demonstrate with. But I tried it with 10lb braid and mono. Absolutely infuriating. Back to double uni for me.

This is not the simple way. Another complicated fg video. U dont have to use all your fingers or toes to tie this knot

Great video! , I have used FG 16 wrap successfully , I had a problem when I had to tie on a new light line leader 20lb fluoro to 40lb wet braid, what would you best recommend thanks

Your point about the first wrap cinched down tightly is critical. IT MUST CINCH down.

This is far and away the best way I've seen to tie this knot. I've never used it because the finish to the knot by other anglers is so flipping confusing!!!
@jamesditsworth384513 күн бұрын
I tried tying this knot 3 times using 20 lb braid to 6 lb fluoro leader. The thin line doesn't hold shape like the leader in your video does, and the knot is a complete mess. It doesn't work for me. Sorry. I'm just gonna stick with the double-uni knot which is still strong enough and pretty easy to tie.

This is what i was taught but to make the knot even stronger go through the eye of the hook twice before tying the knot.

The uniknot is not the strongest knot for hooks. Learn the Snell knot.

With all due respect, and no sarcasm intended, have you actually tested this against a "Well-Tied" improved Clinch knot??!! God knows that in front of dozens of people, I've landed 10.5 Ft. White Sturgeon in Extremely heavy current below the famous Bonneville Dam of the Columbia river (border between Oregon & Washington)!! A white Sturgeon of the aforementioned size, fights far far harder than the biggest Trophy Tarpon!! I'm a retired fish pathologist, Outdoor writer, formerly a College instructor (for Salmon, Steelhead angling) and a river guide for Pacific Salmon, including Steelhead (Oncorhynchus species). And broken many heavy Gamakatsu hooks and straightened heavy-wire Mustad 92158 hooks , but my improved C. knot has never failed. I wouldn't recommend it for braid, but who would use Braid for leader??!! However, Sturgeon don't see leaders and a good choice for large Sturgeon can be the old Original 100Lb test Braided Dacron, with a Salmon-egg loop, which you probably wouldn't be familiar with. People spend far too much time on becoming "Knot-Professors", when they should focus on learning more effective presentation-techniques!! As for Bass, most any knot should do. Also what difference does it make, even if a knot doesn't come undone, but the hook opens up or breaks??

I use to tie all of the knots typical trout fisherman use. When I learned about the uni-knot, I quit all the others.
@TRICK-OR-TREAT23623 күн бұрын
here is another very important tip : when doing this with monofiliment line wet it with saliva and help slide the knot together and tighten it. if you just pull it tight as the line tightens it will reduce the diameter of the line and create a weak point just next to the knot. reducing the strength substantially. try it the wrong way and just pull it tight . look at how much thinner the line has gotten just above the line itself. it will be much weaker and will break there much quicker.

This loop knot is opposite of the fg as far as waste goes. With this loop youre wasting a lot of leader with 10"-12" of doubled leader. Might not matter to some but where i fish, if your jig is not on bottom ,youre not catching fish. So ,on bottom you lose a lot of jigs and re tying leaders a lot. Thats 10" 12" of leader gone on every re rig. Costly if you use flouro
@nick922725 күн бұрын
My biggest issue with the fg is that it uses a lot of line. If you fish in an area where theres lots of snags and get hung up a lot,every time you re tie you lose 8-12" of your braid. It doesnt take long before your spool is no longer "full".

Great FG knot use it on all my braid fluorocarbon leader lines I use different technique to make it, but it’s the same knot. On the boats deck hands always ask me what kind of knot is it? I tell them it’s the FG knot 🪢 a lot of people ask me about it, though, even on the lakes. i’m gonna try your technique on my 2 pound set ups braid to fluorocarbon. definitely keeping this technique for my 2 pound set ups. Thank you for sharing it on KZbin.

Yup yup yup. Terminating the FG knot has always been my biggest struggle. This is why i absolutely love the Alberto knot. The tag ends are 100% secure and can be cut as close as you want. The FG knot is without question the lowest profile knot physically possible, but the wraps can be finicky for a newbie and the termination is the Achilles heel, IMO.

Thank you so much for your videos!! I am just tying fishing line to my cat wand toys to add swivels, and your videos are the easiest to follow and your voice is pleasant and mild to listen to, and that's so important to me to be able to focus! It's a bonus how you use brightly coloured line to better show the process, leaves little room for confusion. I appreciate you very much! 😊❤
