The 'hook-twist' method is also problematic when tying on a large plug like a jerkbait with ganged trebles.

You should always pull the tag to tighten, then a double loop knot to finish

Good video. I have had braid line cut itself. There for I would not tie half hitch onto braid to braid.

Is this as strong as the Albright knot ?

Good video! But please redo with 8lb braid to 6lb fluorocarbon. A lot of us guys up north use this combo. It's almost impossible to tie using your technique. Lines are way to limp

My dad passed away on March 11th 2024 after a sudden cardiac arrest. I'm his only daughter and just turned 19, we used to go fishing every year on my birthday and I really miss it. There are a lot of skills of his that I didn't get to learn, tying a fishing hook is one of them. Thank you for this video, now I'll be able to keep me and my dad's fishing tradition alive hopefully 😊🙏🏽

This method works for bigger lines but not for smaller lines under 8 lbs. I like to see you do it with 2-4 lb. lines. In the river, fishing for trout, i still do it with my mouth/teeth holding the main braid line

The knot at 0.59 is not necessary. You can continue by simply crossing the loop over where the knot was going to be, pinching the loop there, and passing the loop over and behind the hook, before pulling it back on it self. This method doesn’t strangulate and weaken the mainline.

Just started taking fishing somewhat seriously. I tried this in the field on a pier at night. BOY WHAT A MESS I HAD! It was dark and a bit windy. Plus my eye sight isn’t what it used to be. Took about 15 minutes plus a lot of colorful language, lol. However it is an easy knot. Like anything, practice makes better and now it’s become quite easy. Thanks for a great video with simple explanations. Now I just need to catch fish.

The Palamar or Double-Palamar is the strongest line-to-lure knot. I use the Uni because it is quick and strong. Palamar is the "strongest"

Blood knot is just as good and way easier. Never had a fish brake my knot. And I’ve caught some big ones.

It's worth noting that this knot (and the PR knot) are really only needed on heavier lines. I mostly live in the ultralight world and I see people all the time who think they have to use this knot on 6lb or 4lb line because they keep hearing that it's the strongest knot. The point of the FG and PR knots is the small diameter so it goes through guides easier and doesn't destroy the guides over time by beating the crap out of them. If you're on lighter gear, other joiner knots are totally fine and easier to tie (on lighter line).

I use this knot for most connections. Vic Dunaways book taught me many ways to employ it, and along with about 2 others, I have never found a situation that wasn't able to be resolved. Thank you Mr.Dunaway

I have to be honest here: I watch a lot of knot vids. I think this is hands down the best Centauri knot video that I've come across so far Your steps are exactly what I follow with a few tweaks to make the cinching simple with 150# fluro. I use pliers on the tag end for the final cinching down, and use a Thirty Fathoms Knot Puller (tweaked by adding a snap & split ring to cover fresh water sizes). The knot has never failed me. While learning it, I had to make it a point where I pinch the knot. That was part of the learning curve. Before starting to cinch it really mattered that the tag end is on top of the loops & the main line is on the bottom so they run sorta parallel to each other...observing it helped me get them almost flawlessly completed...Uber strong knots! Excellent video! ...Uber strong knots!

This was an outstanding video. Not sure if this is the best way to go for "plastic" lines below 20lb...but, if know for certain this is the knot you're going to tie, then this is definitely the way to do it. Huge thank you for sharing this!

I’ve seen a number of knot-test videos recently… the uni-knot was strongest in exactly none. It’s good, but not the best for any situation.
@dillonlapointe6365 күн бұрын
A few knot guides I've read have placed it at strongest or near strongest for a line to hook tie. Only came in at about 90% Line strength for line to line tying.
