This video will teach you how to tie possibly the best fishing knot for certain situations, the Kreh Loop Knot! This knot can be used any time your tackle needs action or movement to work properly, and this video will show you the tricks to tie it quickly and effectively! We will also go over when you should NOT to use this knot! This is one of the most widely used fishing knots which is easy/fast to tie and can be used to catch anything from trout, perch, bass, pike, salmon, red snapper, tuna, trigger fish, mackerel... basically anything you catch with a hook can be caught using this knot! Good job. Clear instructions, would be helpful for anyone new to loop knots. I have always known that one as Lefty’s loop though and from what I’ve read, Lefty Kreh was given credit for its invention over 40 years ago. But it is quite possible that other people had been using it before Lefty.

For a few years around 1979 he and I were both at a multi-day Spring Conservation Retreat hosted by High Hampton Inn in Cashiers NC. I was providing music, he was teaching fly casting. At times in the early evening, Lefty and I sat beside each other in rocking chairs on the front porch, chatting and sipping cocktails. Problem is I had no idea who he was other than an older (than me) man with a fly rod. I knew little to nothing of his reputation and certainly not that he either already was or would become legendary. He was a perfect gentleman, but only years later, when I seriously took up flyfishing, did I learn I had been in the presence of greatness.

Love this knot. The added benefit is the tag end points to the back of the lure and is a little less likely to catch on weeds when being pulled through them.

love this knot for it's action, one thing you did not mention which can be a big advantage is the tag end is pointing down towards the hook or lure and won't end up getting fouled up or full of weed or sea grass.

Glad it helped! There are definitely multiple ways to think about it, this was just the way that was always easiest for me. If you do pass it through a different side of the loop, it will still work, but the tag end may come out pointing a different direction. I like this better than your variation using the surgeon's knot, because the clipped tag end faces the terminal tackle, and not the main line, which means it's far less likely to pick up random vegetation on the retrieve. Just a point of clarification: when you run the tag end back through the first loop (from the top) it looks like you're also running it through the loop going around the hook. This looks like it's important. Can you please confirm? Thanks!

This is the Kreh loop knot. I like it better than the Perfection loop knot. Easy to tie and very strong. I caught a 140# bluefin tuna using this knot on 80# fluoro to a circle hook.🤙

It's actually called a "Non-Slip Mono Loop Knot" and Lefty knew and told people what the name was, be they kept forgetting it, so people just dubbed it the "Lefty Loop Knot." Same with a tarpon and snook fly guide (Ted Haas) down in Tampa and Boca Grande FL where he would tie the same knot, but only do 2 turns before going back in the top hole with the tag end, and his clients dubbed it the "Haas Knot." Very effective knot and very quick and easy to tie.

When crappie fishing 1/32 jig with Bobby garlin lure and fishing under a bobber or straight down, this is a good knot. Not if there is trees around or your on 1 or 2 pound line. You don’t want to use this knot in my opinion. 4lb line and up in open water this knot will catch more fish. But I always go with a palemar knot (don’t know how to spell it) but the palemar knot can not have a slack loop left in it for action. But it won’t break easy at all. This knot he’s showing will break in small line or in tree tops

BTW, rather than looking at the overhand knot and trying to figure out which end points up or down confusing as hell), just bring the tag end through the same side the line is coming out of the overhand knot. Same thing when going back in after wrapping the tag around the standing part of the line.

Try it yourself,stretch it till the line breaks. If it breaks in the knot,don't use it on that line. If the line breaks in the middle away from the knot. Definitely use this knot.personally I love this knot. But I generally use a uni.

I agree the snap swivel can be useful in some cases! The water where I live is so clear, though, that many people like to keep their terminal tackle as small and/or simple as possible, so they avoid them for that reason. But I certainly use them in some situations too, and appreciate how easy they are to use!

Don't know what the knot is called. But everyone in family calls it GG knot. 1 loop after you tag end its loops across the barrel of hook. Tag end run back thru eye. And it has never felled. Braided line or hooking lures.

Sorry if it wasn't clear! The arrow in the video should help point out which side of the loop is "facing up". Basically, the loop is not directly in line with the main line and tag end, and one side of the loop "faces" away from the tackle while the other faces "down" towards the tackle. Hopefully that clarifies it a little!

The best way to make wealth is to research and catch a stock when it is down. I certainly believe minimally in two years, this stock will be up 10% from its lows of 39 , of which it is having heavy resistance at. Now add the 9% dividend. Here's where risk comes in. Do you risk buying a cash heavy stock at its perceived bottom, where Dalio is buying many shares. Success here brings wealth. Failure? What are you losing? ABR and Verizon went through very similar times recently. Those who bought, are doing pretty well now.

THIS IS THE RAPALA KNOT!!! Don't rip people or companies off and rename their work. This has been on their lure boxes for DECADES. You should rename the title of this video to "How to tie the Rapala Knot!" Doesn't matter one bit which direction you tie it, if you tie a loop and then feed the tag end through the anchor point and then slip through the knot and put wraps around the line and loop back through the original loop, it is the Rapala Knot.

Thank you for commenting, but actually, this is not the Rapala knot! This variation of the loop knot is different from the Rapala knot as the Rapala knot uses one additional step at the end (running the tag back through the new loop which is created in the last step). It is definitely a similar knot, but it is not the same. That would be like calling the Clinch Knot and Improved Clinch knot the same thing, which would be incorrect. I agree it’s important to title things correctly, and I appreciate the comment!
