When you say you link your model to sphere, you don't actually explain how?
@Art-Teeves2 сағат бұрын
It happens @ 1:07 timing. Basically, you simply go to Scene tab and pull your model on the Sphere there. It links them together.

Place two instances of this model in a game engine and the engine will crash. That's too many polygons.
@Art-Teeves4 ай бұрын
It depends on your goals, the engine and the game itself. And obviously the PC. If we are running the game on a computer from 90s, it will surely crash. Yet, using it multiple times on a modern PC will only result in a slight FPS drop. Back in 2005, what was considered low-poly might have tens, hundreds or few thousands of polygons. Today's "low poly" assets can push that limit to 80,000 or even 100,000 depending on the context. This flower, with its ~20k polygons, wouldn't be suitable for densely populating a vast landscape. However, it's perfect for individual placement as a quest item or an herb for gathering. While not ideal for massive outdoor scenes, low-poly assets like this flower are great for most indie projects that prioritize aesthetics over extreme optimization.
@Art-Teeves4 ай бұрын
I'd also add that the range of 10,000 - 50,000 triangles is common for many low-poly assets, especially objects the player interacts with (our flower fits in this range perfectly), while some might still consider a range of 50-100k tris "low-poly" depending on the context (obviously it's pushing the limits for some platforms).

@Art-Teeves5 ай бұрын
Well, I never cut out any elements of the video that stand out of simple topology editing. All vital parts of the process are present in the video. Basically, all I do is combine some lofts with automated retopology and then merge elements into a single piece by using ProBoolean. Hopefully, I'll record more vids of structure modeling that won't be edited at all. If you got some particular questions about modeling particular elements - I'll gladly try and answer them!

@@Art-Teeves want to ask something. So i use Cloth modifier, just say i use a plane as fabric and it fall around a cylinder, so the fabric will 'hanging' arounf the cylinder. Very cute and simple model! Also very nice presentation, showing general tools without making 3 hours+ video, or crazy x100 speed timelapse. Of course it is mid poly, and not SubD ready... Only question I have is: how are you gonna bake normals & curvature maps for substance smart materials, if you can't subdivide it?
@Art-Teeves9 ай бұрын
Thank you for your kind words! Indeed, its not SubD ready and lacks optimization + unwrapping is absolutely basic. If I was going for a flawless bake, i'd give it way more polygons on modeling phase and then went for some kind of decimate/proOptimizer + would use auto retopo to my advantage to speed up the process. Also I'd model it in t-pose and copy one arm (make UVs overlap). Since I'm not going for a flawless shading here and since I'm also fine with its polycount, I just won't bake HP to LP here at all, using some modified SP mats like it is. Again, if I was going for mobile optimization, I'd start off from central cylinder, retopologize it to something symmetrical that would have a high amount of polygons and extrude the cylinder, thus getting a somewhat proper result. I would later use autoretopo and go for T-pose as I've mentioned before + I'd add some kind of decimate to my LP model. I guess, that would reduce the polycount to something around 1k. There's almost a limitless potential for polyshing models and I try to show the easiest way to get pipeline working for indie projects - something that I struggled to find myself a few years ago=)

Yes, indeed, I should've left that part in the video. I've used ProBoolean tool and then picked few iterations of auto retopology. Then I applied symmetry 2 times, so that all sides became even.
@ninjaugal383210 ай бұрын
@@Art-Teeves because I'm still learning, sometimes when creating an object I feel confused, how to make a hole round shape on something like box surface that have square shape polygon. It's kinda easy to made that Using boolean/proboolean, but I don't know how to fix the weird topology that left behind after boolean/proboolean. Thank you for your tutorial, I'm still learning and your video help a lot
@Art-Teeves10 ай бұрын
@@ninjaugal3832 I'm glad to be of help=) Basically, automated retopology really makes things easy when you start with it (later on it gets harder and harder to utilize it properly). You can still split model into several parts, that are connected on flat surfaces, then you can retopologize all elements separately. When you weld them together, topology doesn't matter that much on flat surface since it doesn't influence shading. The manual workaround is to create a "circle" around the hole you've cut, that basically mimics its flow. Each circle you create shall "dissolve" into the flow of the model. The trick is to stop thinking in strict shapes, but start thinking in some kind of a "flow" logic. Just remember to move your vertices with edge constraint enabled=)
