apparently this was a 500sh according to another siren enthusiast but it was turned to a 500at, it was rebuilt and tested, it was actually the 500at at sirencon 2024

@@penclone01-n4x This one was never a single toned version, it's always been a dual-toned version. You are correct, this one was refurbished and it made it to sirencon 2024.

another perfectly good thunderbolt replaced by a crappy 2001, all because they want back up batteries and all that, i remember my city when i was a kid had 1 p50 and multiple 1000T's and one p15 eventually they all got replaced by 2001-130, whats funny today is tho they still have the rcm panel up, whats weird is my city managed to put a battery back up to the thunderbolts years before they replaced them with the 2001, not to mention non of them had any issues and would get new screen put on if the old on ripped and were taking care of, now the 2001 by my house just struggles or never goes off,

@@CooperJohnson01 I don't think battery backup is possible for thunderbolts. At least the 3-phase ones. As for this one, it was starting to show its age. The blower was replaced a few years before this recording, and you can see the head wobble from side to side. Besides, maintaining thunderbolts is a lot more expensive than maintaining 2001s. The situation you've described with your city is quite odd though. It could be a radio issue or the thing is really messed up.

@Vectir442 the pole was rotting and there was an increasing risk of the siren falling over. This could have caused severe damage to nearby foliage and/or power lines
