I have the opposite problem than you. The blade opens way too easily, which makes the knife unsafe to carry. It's opened on its own in the front pocket of my jeans several times, and it's cut me pretty badly 3 times. I now leave it by the sliding glass door for letting my dog out at night. I'm not sure if there's a way to fix it, so that the blade remains firmly in the closed position.

I refurbished one a few years ago. The watch was from '85, still running on the original battery - yes. I will come back with details where I've got the bezel and strap.

I have the same G-Shock in the same condition! I loved that watch. It still runs fine, but with no bezel and strap, it’s not very useful. If you anyone ever finds a replacement for the bezel and strap for the old-school Casios, hook me up!

Just for info, on the GMW-B5000 you can set multiple reminders with text messages, so this function is still relevant in modern modules.

Is the handle big enough to get a really strong grip on the dagger when fighting with it ? Some say it is not. I think the guard is too small with abrupt edges that should instead curve out towards the tip so you can actually use your thumb to prevent the hand sliding forward when you hit what you're thrusting at. The Cold Steel Taipan is a dagger that also has a small, abrupt, straight guard and those types of guards suck because they really hurt the hands and you can't use your thumb on them to stop your hand from sliding forward when you thrust with real power. The other gripe i have and i think it's a big one, is that you want the razor edges all the way down to the guard on BOTH sides. When you're fighting you have no idea where you might get your thrust in and you want to create maximum INTERNAL damage (done by pronating left and right so that the tip moves back and forth as much as possible while inside) and you want to be able to slide the blade along the ribs or abdomen to create the largest opening you possibly can. If you have to slide in the direction of the blunt side, you can't achieve that objective and THAT is a major FAIL in my honest opinion. An example would be if you're in between ribs and your blade edge is facing towards the sternum and you "need to/have to" slide the dagger in the opposite direction to create that opening but your blunt edge is facing the direction you need to slide the blade in. That's a huge NO GO if you ask me and i know what i'm talking about. I don't know man... i'm just a dude who served in SOF and also has a medical degree and knows human anatomy as well as knife fighting. The problem with the designers is they don't have all three parts of the equation when designing a lethal fighting knife. Those three parts are the fighting function and ergonomics of the weapon part, Mindset of a killer/soldier to create the most lethal weapon possible and Human ANATOMY.

You did good. Don't be so hard on yourself. Lotsa people around for that. We wouldn't be watching if we didn't dig your groove. (Trying to stick to the '85 theme - which, btw, I figured out right away! Lol!) It was a fantastic year, was '85...

I've a 1990s Casio Pathfinder, with 'best fishing/hunting time, moon phase' feature. The battery died last year (2024), and it's sitting on my table as I type this, with me trying to figure out how to remove the old battery. You've given me hope. Thanks, and enjoy.

My multi tool is a victorinox classic. A blade , a file, great little scissors, a small flathead screwdriver. Mine also has a tiny ink pen and tweezers, and it only weighs one ounce, and fits on my key ring.

I forgot about that "reminder" function. Kind of silly, because what if you did not rember the reason for hitting it? I initially thought that watch was sponsored from the band REM? (I know tasteless).

Great knife. It’s my favorite. I like the slim select version of the 112.
@just991118 күн бұрын
Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate the 110 & 112 as important pieces of knife history, but their original versions are just too dated to be worth buying at this point. All of that brass blows the blade to weight ratio to hell and it isn’t really giving you any benefit for that weight penalty. I’m a pretty big believer in the idea that folding knives should strive to get close to the inch per ounce ratio. Chalk it up to the Boy Scouts, my outdoorsman grandfather that was big on efficiency, and my adventures in a dozen countries across 4 continents. The original 112 is 5.9 ounces, which gives you a terrible blade to weight ratio of .51. The Slim weighs in a 2.5 ounces, which gives you a great b:w ratio of 1.2. The Sport version is a compromise, with a 3.9 ounce weight giving you a respectable .77 ratio. The 112 Sport really is the sweet spot in Buck’s catalogue of folding knives. For $135 you get - the classic lines of the 112 design; aluminum instead of brass so you have the same great ergonomics without the weight penalty; a well positioned set of thumb studs that don’t get in the way when sharpening; micarta instead of ebony wood (which I think looks better as it ages); a surprisingly good yet dead simple pocket clip; a S35VN blade with a quality Bos heat treatment; the support of Buck’s incredibly warranty coverage; and it’s made right here in the states. For an edc knife that is actually a good cutting tool and not just a bit of pocket jewelry - the 112 Sport is one of the best bang for your buck American knives on the market (pun intended). It’s right up there with the Hogue Deka, Kershaw Bel Air, and the Spyderco Manix 2.
