I had a problem with a leak of a liquid similar to oil. Oil stains and streaks were on the oil pan and in some places around. The confusing thing was that the color of the liquid was the color of new oil (light yellow), but my oil was with some mileage and darker in color. It turned out to be power steering fluid: the hose (Honda 53713-SHJ-A01 Power Steering Pressure Hose) near the power steering pump was leaking due to cracks. Maybe this information will be useful to someone.

Hello and thank you for this video. But at the end you skip something that I can't figure out. When installing the valve rockers, the 6.5 rebuild book says to rotate crankshaft until the "mark" is at the 2 o'clock position. Then rotate CCW 3.5 inches until the "mark" is around the 12:30 position. WTF is all that? What mark? I have a fluid dampner balancer with all kinds of marks on it. The zero mark? I am stuck and scared because it says improper install will lead to breakage. Thank you for any and all help
@ArrowsGarage4 ай бұрын
Once I had my crank and camshaft timing correct I just put the push rods in and bolted everything down I didn't do any of that rotating stuff. Obviously I rotated the engine over by hand after everything was bolted down to make sure that nothing interfered with each other.

@@ArrowsGarage thanks, that's what I thought. If the dots are lined up with the crank and cam, then it shouldn't matter.

Cracks between valves were a relatively easy fix on old 6.2 heads… involves reaming coolant passage and driving in a length of valve guide ( with sealer). Effective, permanent and cheap. I always use brass freeze plugs… not expensive

Yeah, I probably should have just ran them.

Don't forget to remove the intermediate shaft lower pinch bolt and disconnect the intermediate shaft from the power steering gear. If the subframe is lowered without doing these steps first, you could cause damage to the steering, leading to catastrophic failure. Thank you for the video.

I used to have 2 Impalas. One a 2003 LS, and a 2005 Base model. The battery would only last three years. Even the 60 month batteries would only last 3 years. So I only bought batteries that would be guaranteed for 3 years. They were cheaper than the 60 month battery. Also I had both engines offered in the 2000 through 2005 Impala. Both engines had intake and head gaskets that needed to be replaced.

@@ArrowsGarage I forgot to mention the transmissions that were hot garbage when you hit 70,000 miles. Both needed new transmissions at a cost of $3,500.00 each. Even with transmission services they still failed. Then there were the tires that needed replacing between 25 000 and 30,000 miles. A tire with a 80,000 mile tread life was worn out before it had 30 000 miles.

Depending on how bad your head gasket is, that could be a side effect. After you replace the head gasket, if the problem is till there, try doing a basic tune-up. (Spark plugs, wires, air filter, etc)

My 2003 Impala LS did that, and it was the mass air flow sensor. It was sending a signal to the computer to cut the power to the engine. The check engine light never came on. The sensor checked out to be bad. A new GM Goodwrench mass air flow sensor was installed, and problem was solved.

i remember i was in this mechanic summer camp thing when i was like 11 and the instructor was doing something else and told us to check if the car was stable on the lift. we shook it and the thing moved a bunch but he also told us he had set it up already and we were just checking it, so we assumed that was ok. (or none of us wanted to say anything in case it was good) so then he comes over and pushes hard on the hood and the car almost slides off. he was mad

I would hate for that to happen! I need to invest in some pole jacks, especially when I remove an engine. It throws of the weight distribution.
