The problem is i cant get even string volume, i have tried Fenders specs 2mm from g string, 2.8mm from E string and everything in between. can you tell me how you set up your pickup distance in mm plz

@@iwatchingyou68 thanks for watching. Of course, I try to help you as much as I can. Actually I also use the same Fender spec. for setting up my Fender basses. But before checking your pickup height, please first make sure that the action is set correctly. I’m not sure what you mean by string volume. It also depends on what you are comparing your bass sound with. In general, there are different factors playing role in the volume e.g. the type of pickups, electronics (active vs passive), strings age, the way the bass has been recorded (directly to DAW, through preamp pedal, plugins, amp simulators etc.). For instance, the Fender I’m playing in this video is an active one with the powerful Bartolini XTCT preamp. Apart from that, I have boosted the signal through a pedal. These are all contributing to the volume.

I have the same Sire model as my go-to bass for the 70's jazz tone, and had been thinking about upgrading to the Sadowsky UV70 for the added active controls and that Sadowsky name on the headstock, BUT hearing the same Sire with the EMG's swapped in makes me think I might just save some money and put those same EMG's in! Just wish I could swap the ugly MARCUS MILLER default font logo on the headstock for something more stylized :(

@@ImJustStandingHere thanks for watching and for your comment. Sire V5 is a real value for money. Awesome playability plus a great 70’s tone keep it as one of the best (or even the best) in the maket for that price range. The combo of Sire V5 and EMGs is fantastic so, given these advantages, I wouldn’t bother myself with the headstock or logo much. Sadowsky UV70 is also an awesome bass and has my favourite tone close to the original Fenders from 70’s. But is of course more expensive. I like both Sire V5 and UV70 with nickel strings on. I have some Bartolinis in my Jazz Bass, the 9J1s I think. They sound nice to me, warmish and very clear, but going by this comparison I think I prefer the sound of the Fender PV 74s. They sound a little more dirty/aggressive and forward in the mids to me which I like, it seems like they would sound better in a rock band style mix, whereas the Barts would be a jack of all trades and fit many different styles well enough. Just my two cents! Nice comparison.

Excellent comparison!🔥 Maybe just a little unfair to the Sire pickups since the EMG’s seem to be active (or maybe I’m mistaken), so there is an element of passive vs active as well and not strictly two passive pickup options vs one another. This is not meant as a negative - I love the sound of active EMG’s, and this clearly shows what to expect from this upgrade. If the EMG’s are indeed passive I apoligize for my mistake and have to say I’m even more amazed at the improvement in tone and definition. Thank you for a most excellent video!✨🙏

@@mattiasahnfelt7147 you’re welcome! That’s an interesting and difficult question. But I’ll try to answer. I should mention that I’ve sold my AtelierZ and bought an original Fender jb from 1977.
