Great comparison!! The pickup balance/height may need to be checked between UV70 and the Fender. Fender seems to have more neck pickup blend. I am surprised how the Atelier sounds to be honest…the alder back can’t be the reason for sounding so NOT 70’s JB… Great Comparison!! I would like to see maybe more detailed UV70 vs Fender with comparable setup. I noticed on the UV70 that it likes more bass boost so sound good compared to my NYC 4 strings with 60s positions.

I checked the pickup heights on both Fender and Sadowsky. Both are almost as per the spec i.e. 3,2mm and 2,4mm. Please note that my Fender is a modified one converted to active with Lollar PUs and Bartoli preamp. So it may not be a valid reference for what you are looking for (Fender traditional 70’s which is passive). I might make another video comparing my Fender with my UV70 in the future. Let’s see….thanks for watching and for your comments 🙏🙏🙏

Louder always tricks us that it sounds better. The levels from these basses seem quite different. Thr Sadowsky Does sound very nice though. I Do wonder about a level 'playing field' in these comparisons though. I bought a Sire V-7 quite early on, alder/rosewood, just to have a Jazz bass around the place and mine sounds Much livelier. I like the 'legacy; tones from the old Fender types. My 'daily driver' is a Modulus Q5, but it can do F type sounds when it needs to ...

@@majidalizadeh9354 I watched the entire video. I'm a Luthier/ Repairman, since about 1968. I just turned 72. I'm also a lefty bassist. I have many instruments, and seven custom self-designed basses. All from scratch. I have two V7's and they are almost totally stock. I have a P5, that is heavily modifid, and it sounds better and plays better than my friend and client's P-7. I've worked on everything you can imagine, from well before there were any aftermarket parts at all, and most of the Fender basses I worked on, were Pre-CBS.. I know a good sounding bass when I hear it. There, of course many variables- such as the mods you have done. The end result here, is all of your basses sound like they should. No issues at all, but I prefer the sound of your Fender over the others.

@@bigbass421Wow great that you have so much experience as a Luthier. That‘s the area I‘m interested in (to modify and repair bass guitars, I don’t have much experience though). My personal preference is my Sadowsky and then Fender and Sire V5. As I mentioned my Fender has a Bartolini XTCT but in the next step I will install a Bartolini TCT preamp (the exact same model that Marcus Miller has on his Fender 77) on my Fender and will make a video of that. Let’s see how much it makes difference 😊

@majidalizadeh9354
@majidalizadeh9354 2 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment. IMHO, it’s a very generic view to say fenders don’t have this sound. There are lots of different fender jazz bass models and each one sounds unique. Moreover, this is a modified fender jb with Bartolini preamp and Lollar PU’s so a lot of factors playing roles for a different sound here. FYI, the master volume knob of the fender is fully open in this demo but of course the input gain on my audio interface was lowered to avoid to much gain and consequently a distorted sound. However, I´m open to any suggestion on how I can make my recordings better with higher quality. I’m still learning every single day :)

@@majidalizadeh9354 Without the pre-amp of the Sire, I would put them equally in terms of sound and woods, as ash is an amazing and reliable wood (but heavy as heck) in terms of feel that is a subjective, but I really love the neck of the JB75 compared to the Sire as it isn't extra thin and it feels like a Jazz neck with a tough of a P The biggest difference is IMO the pickups and the QC, the Roswells of the HB are good but they could be a little bit better and it can be solved with an upgrade, and the QC because sometimes HB basses come with maybe ok-ish tuners and sharp frets, while the Sire is more consistently good
